To be fair sometimes it is just cheaper to sell it and buy summat new. You could keep it how it is, get it derestricted and enjoy it. Appearances are not everything :-P [/quote] He's just quoting Devilsyam. Anyways, I can barely afford my current machine, let alone a replacement... ![]() Sent from my HTC Desire C using Tapatalk 2 [/quote] ![]() Re: Your opinion needed!! - ponkster - 04-05-13 Black bike with red frame looks good - but what a ball ache to do properly and keep looking good . Re: Your opinion needed!! - AdieR - 04-05-13 I think the black / red looks OK. What I would do however (assuming your bike has been treated well) is take pictures BEFORE a re-spray (to highlight its condition) - if you sell in future, a prospective buyer may think (assume) it's been thrown down the road and sprayed to cover up damage. Apart from the few times I've managed to drop it, there are aboput 3 kinds of paint on the rear plastics, and the headstock bearing is witness to enthusiastic wheelies from the previous owner. Re: Your opinion needed!! - ChristoT - 08-05-13 So, as promised, my friend Richard mocced up the other frame colours for me. And after all that palarver - I'm sticking with a black frame. :rolleyes See why: [smg id=833 type=preview align=center caption="Fazer red frame"] [smg id=834 type=preview align=center caption="Fazer blue frame"] [smg id=835 type=preview align=center caption="Fazer gold frame"] [smg id=836 type=preview align=center caption="Fazer silver frame"] I know it would look better in real life, but the problem is that all that paint looks a bit over the top, and doesn't go as well witht he shape of the bike. And a half painted frame (just the bit between the engine and the tank, and stretching down to the peg) would just look a bit daft. Thoughts still welcome though! ![]() Re: Your opinion needed!! - Dead Eye - 08-05-13 The gold looks pretty awesome actually and the silver aint half bad either ![]() In fact if I had a black bike I would be pretty tempted to go the gold route Re: Your opinion needed!! - bigsteve - 08-05-13 I like the black with silver frame myself CristoT ![]() but silver and black always goes well together Re: Your opinion needed!! - simonm - 08-05-13 I think we need to see the stunning new black finish, wait for him to grab a sarnie and cover the bike frame (edited) in tippex :b I considered a respray for the bike but figured I'd wait until I stop falling off the fcuker. Just trying to cover all the bases here! I have a set of Stevie-style indicators on their way for functionality (my panniers squash the stock ones too much for my liking), and I have a headlamp mod in mind too to do. End of the day, I want a bike that I can be proud of if I keep it, and which will resale for a decent sum too if needs be. Simple as that. Re: Your opinion needed!! - bozboz - 09-05-13 Dont twat around with it too much tho Christo. The resale value will never over weight the costs if you do. The bike can't get worse than it alreadyy is! (OK, it can, but only if I send it through a hedge) Also, I like having a bike built to my spec. If I want small indicators, I shall have small indicators, dammit! :lol Re: Your opinion needed!! - JoeRock - 09-05-13 Probably worth spending money getting it as close as back to standard new condition as possible then if you want to tidy it up, that's the kind of bike that usually commands the highest price! Re: Your opinion needed!! - simonm - 09-05-13 You should always mod as if you're throwing the money away, you're doing it for you, not to improve resale. One man's treasure is another man's trash or summat. Given the age of the bike it'll no doubt be uneconomic to do anything beyond keeping it running. Mod it, enjoy it, and only spend what you can afford to lose. Re: Your opinion needed!! - Revilo18 - 09-05-13 Gold looks the nuts btw :b Re: Your opinion needed!! - Fuzzy - 09-05-13 I'd keep the frame black tbh. It won't be as much of a pain to clean, it retains the original look (might be useful when you sell it) and it'll be far easier to touch up if need be. If you want something different, do the plastics a different colour or if you want to stay with black, a really nice, deep metallic black or something. At least if you change your mind later all you have to do is take the panels off rather than dismantle the whole bike! Like others have said though, if you don't plan to keep it long term it might be more economical to keep it as is and save the money to spend on a real tidy bike next time. Wish I'd told myself that before. Re: Your opinion needed!! - ChristoT - 09-05-13 (09-05-13, 12:14 PM)Fuzzy link Wrote: I'd keep the frame black tbh. Funny that, I'm planning on metal flake metallic black. ![]() As for keeping it, I WANT to keep it, not sure if I'll be able to. |
