Its one o those micro road sweepers mate but without the sweepers....i hope deefers got his yellow waist coat and spam sandwiches ready for a 3 hour shift.......plus tea breaks. :lol Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - pilgo - 18-11-14 car passed its mot !! mark 4 Golf Gti, 214,000 miles, only advisory was a near limit f/n/s tyre getting low (new one being fitted tomorow ),the emmisions were lower than on newer, less milage cars according to the examiner. just shows that regular oil changes and good oil is the way to go imho. only down side is that i need to get some minor rust issues sorted,as id hate to lose a great car, after looking after everything else,by ignoring the rust. Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Doddsie - 18-11-14 Drank it!!
Its a 2006 Aixaim 751, I have no car license but because I passed my test in the dark ages I have the B1 entitlement which is Quadricycle. These cars are ali chassised and plastic bodied and wiegh less than 450kg which means under uk law they are not a car they are a quad thus falling under the B1 catagory. I have had a couple of older diesel ones which quite frankly shit, slow (40-50 MPH), noisy and a great big pile of poo! This is a quite rare petrol version quite is a lot quieter, and considerably faster (70 +). I got it for a bargain basement price, so much so that when I popped into my local dealer to get a new mirror glass for it he asked me how much I paid for it and when I told him he spat his coffee out and called me a very rude word!. So no getting cold for me this winter!...... Deefer is a happy, happy bunny Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - His Dudeness - 19-11-14 Nice little car. Would you get a fazer engine in it? Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - YamFazFan - 19-11-14 Is the engine water cooled? Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Deefer666 - 19-11-14 it is water cooled and I have my older Aixam that I blew up that will be receiving the fazer engine transplant. The one thing with all of the Aixams I have owned is the heaters are always get fecking hot! Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - alan sherman - 20-11-14 Fun as it is - why not get a car licence? You could take on Christ-Oh's Peugeot then and fix the things he's broken? But good luck with the Fazer transplant into the older one - it'll be interesting to see how it performs. I dont have a car license because I never really needed one Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Dead Eye - 23-11-14 Finally got round to continuing the work on the ZS engine. No pictures today though ![]() Sorted out replacing the link belts on the rear of the engine, then set about the front. Old belt off, pulleys replaced, water pump replaced and then attempt to fit the front belt. Took me a while and I thought I had it, but I turned the engine through one entire cycle (720 degrees at the crank) and the timing marks were out... looks like I did something wrong and the belt slipped ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - esetest - 24-11-14 Replaced the battery in the cage . Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Dead Eye - 24-11-14 Back home this afternoon a little earlier than usual so as there was some light left I cracked on again with seeing if I could get the front timing belt sorted. 20 minutes later and its all timed up correctly and reassembly has begun ![]() I have a new clutch kit arriving in the next day or two, but that's a piss easy job. Need to re-attach a few covers, try to find a few lost bolts I've left somewhere and then offer the engine back up the car. Once that is done, clean up the new gearbox and reinstall and then the might ZS should be back on the road ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - noggythenog - 24-11-14 (24-11-14, 08:37 PM)Dead Eye link Wrote: Back home this afternoon a little earlier than usual so as there was some light left I cracked on again with seeing if I could get the front timing belt sorted. 20 minutes later and its all timed up correctly and reassembly has begun When you're pisssi g about u derneath the car do you ever think ih shit the chassis is a bit rotten or whatever......not saying that it is but genuinely curious coz on my old golf.....well it wasnt bad bad....but it wasnt good either....the ZS is slightly more modern......where were those MG's manufactured and how thick is the metal and how dothe floor pans and sills look up clise and personal. Any thoughts?
My 2000 206 is very tidy, very little rust at all (although the jack up point is a bit focced). Amazing how many advances have been made in the fight against corrosion. The things you learn at Uni - did you know that in London (and other major cities), there was a genuine problem with lamp posts failing down due to corrosion at the base? The eventual culprit: doggies taking a widdle against them! The acidity and humidity of the pee sped up the corrosion process, ensuring the lamp posts were weakened, and eventually toppled! Any thoughts?
It's mostly tidy, but you are right the floor pans need some attention. Light surface rust is appearing, so nothing too bad yet. My original plan (made 12 months or so ago) was to prep this and have the entire underbody wax oiled whilst the engine was out of the car. This job however will be outsourced to a garage as I don't have the space available where I currently live - I had never planned nor expected to be living in a flat. The only other area of rust, is the centre section of the exhaust which as you know completely disintegrated. Once the car is back on the road, I will be organising a trip to an exhaust specialist where it will get replaced ![]() My first Mk2 golf didn't have a single intact panel and as such was in very bad shape in regards to the body. I'm hoping the MG will last me many more years as I do enjoy driving it. It doesn't quite tick all the boxes that I would like for a car, but as a run-around it's solid and worth taking care of despite the rather atrocious fuel economy ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Dead Eye - 26-11-14 New clutch installed today, nice and easy job that took only 10 minutes this morning ![]() I've managed to rope in Christo as an extra pair of hands to hopefully get the engine back in the car this Saturday ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ChristoT - 26-11-14 The roofbars for the 206 arrived today! Might fit them over the weekend, haven't decided yet. They're the genuine Peugeot lockable bars for £50 off ebay. Not too shabby, really. Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - Robbie8666 - 26-11-14 Scrapped the Vectra and Freelander failed MOT very badly so thats going for sale as spares... Radio/DVD player in it got to be worth £100 ..2.0L engine great nick just underneath has a rotted!! |
