Rode out to Cheddar for coffee and a cake, up over Burrington and down into Cheddar , came back via Blagdon , Ubley , and Chew Valley lake .

Went and paid my respects to the victim of the fatal bike crash I was diverted away from Sunday.
Turns out he was a good old friend and ex-employee of mine, a good all round egg and a much missed son, husband and father.
RIP Bill,  till we meet again.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - HarryHornby - 11-09-15

I'm not surprised there was a fatal there, I pass it every day.  I have to confess, I heard about it the day it happened and they said a biker in his 50's my first thought was "please not Dazza".

The prob with that junction is you have overhanging trees just to the right changing contrast of light so car drivers who are looking for very small gaps in which to pull out have a slightly harder job than normal.

If I see a car at that junction and I'm on the bike I slow down and move the bike from side to make myself seen.

That's one things that's really stuck with me from biker down road skills.  Question, what are drivers looking for when pulling out of junctions?  The answer is GAPS, not vehicles, plus the average driver looks for about half a second in each direction.  That's not a lot of time to take in information as to what's coming down the road!

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grayo - 11-09-15

Yesterday. Was a scorching hot day here so rode to Noggy country (West Wales).
Stuck to the A roads to Haverfordwest then lovely twisties through Herbrandston, Dreen Hill and down to Dale. Stopped for a lovely breakfast in Dale Yacht Club.
Onwards to Marloes (nudist beach), St Brides (nothing in St Brides), Little Haven and Broad Haven. Had a lovely lunch in The Galleon Inn overlooking the beach at Broadhaven.
It was about 2.30pm by now, touching 23 degrees and not a breeze in the air. Sat outside the pub for about an hour and a half and burnt my head !
Headed home via the quickest route up through St Clears to Pont Abraham and then boring M4 eventually getting home about 7pm. Absolutely beautiful day to be out on the bike surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery in Wales on some of the twistiest roads.
Hopefully we'll get a nice day or two before the end of the month so I can get down that way again.

Beautiful day, very quiet roads. 88 mile round trip to Bala and back from Wrexham , via Ruthin, Llanfihangel, Cerrig, Frongoch, (stopped at cafe), Bala. Sat by the lake chatting to bikers from Merseyside for an hour then back home.

Yesterday, decided to do all the Lake District passes in one day. Usual campsite at Keswick was pretty busy, but you can't beat the views from there, this one of Skiddaw:

Honister:

Between Honister and Buttermere:

Haystacks and Butteremere:

Going up to the Whinlatter Pass, a view of Skiddaw:

On the way to the Kirkstone:

And at the inn at top:

On the way to the Wrynose, Langdale Pikes:

and near the top of of the Wrynose:

Looking down the other side, and the route to the last one (Hardknott):

Hardest uphill part done on the Hardknott:

T'other side, the descent:

My favourite route out from there is via Birker Fell:

So that's a little challenge out of the way  Big Grin

All you need to do now is the applecross road! Lovely pics of scenery and the bike looks not bad too Wink

Very true, not done that road yet. I've been across the 'peninsular' there to Torridon; like riding across a moonscape, but unfortunately I didn't know about Applecross back then. Much of Scotland I've yet to explore - this will all become a bit easier for me soon  Smile

You've now got the best of both worlds :lol

Red at the front so people in front can see you've got the fastest bike and will let you past Smile
And black at the rear so people behind yoy think your going slow Smile (but your not really as it's really a red (fast) bike your on)
Perfect result :woot
