Washed it and GT-85'd the engine and frame. Shiny bike  Big Grin

How the hell do you get in to clean all the awkward spots at the front of the engine??? I've got toothbrushes, long-handled brushes etc etc up the yin-yang, and still can't get at it all  :\ Surely this bike has REALLY never seen rain before I got my hands on it. Would it be safe to jet wash the front down there if I keep it away from electrics etc? Or will that muller the black finish?

Spray some Muck Off or a degreaser and leave to work its way in.....jet washing is ok but not too close up, as some of these modern powerful Karchers with the cone heads can take paint off quite easily.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 06-07-15

Muc Off seemed to be ok on the silver engines, but I'm told it'll leave white stains on the black ones BBB. Will a degreaser do the same I wonder? Jizer, Gunk etc? I used a garden hose with a jet nozzle, nowhere near as powerful as a jet wash, but it didn't take the dirt off.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - bigbluebear - 06-07-15

I use a degreaser 2 or 3 times a year....but it does what it says on the tin....so make sure you don't get it anywhere else....best to spray it on a rag and only rub it into the areas needing cleaned.

I went for  ride out with a mate on his Versys and had a fine day dodging showers in Lincolnshire.
I started off from Leicester and headed to Sleaford for the meet up, from there we bobbed around generally eastwards towards Mablethorpe for chips at the seaside.

On the way back we passed through Alford and stopped of at Evotech Performance to pick up a tail tidy and new CNC folding levers, I don't know if I am allowed to promote a company that I like but have no affiliation so delete if necessary, but Evotech (evotech-performance.com) are a small manufacturing company who make really nice bits of kit in the UK, if you stop by the factory in Alford they will give you a walk round the factory floor and might even be persuaded into a decent discount!

From Alford we headed back west towards Grantaham, through Louth. Stopped at mates for a cuppa and then back to Leicester.
Really happy with the day, 200 decent miles and I averaged 41 mpg which seems reasonable enough for the type of riding we did but seriously numb bum after about 5 hours total in the saddle.

I will post up some pics of my new shiny bits when I fit them tomorrow.

Got as far as fitting the o2 eliminator.

Looked at fitting my smaller flies but im not sure how to revolve them so that i can get hold each one & pull it out....i had planned on using my magnet wand on them until i realised that they arent magnetic......i can just see them falling inside & being a drama.

Next to them is the connecting rod....if i push down on the arm they move slightly but i cant get them to revolve....is this an issue, are they maybe stuck or is it because they only move at certain revs or something maybe?

Checked out most of the next LOFO ride.
Some pics.

Malvern Hills from Cleeve Hill:

Had a coffee stop in Cirencester, and had a look round the St. John The Baptist church. Built largely on wool money, it's a magnificent and interesting building:

I'm not a religious man myself, but one thing religion has given this world is some stunning architecture:

And a fascinating glimpse of history from a time when the inside of our churches looked very different. Some original uncovered fragments of the wall decorations; this place must have been truly awe inspiring once upon a time:

I'm told there's a small church near Hailes Abbey, which I passed today, that has even more stunning original wall art, so I think I'll be headed there to take a look at that soon.

A great ride around the Cotswolds, some of which I have done before, and some of which was new to me. Thoroughly enjoyable  Smile

Wales again; Snowdonia this time. On the way up, spotted this Laverda RGS1000 at a service station. I didn't like them when they first hit the streets, but I think I've changed my mind:

Main destination today was Caernarfon castle:

And along the way, visited a few of my favourite spots:

Classic view of Tryfan; last time I tried to get this shot, I dropped the bike in a field entrance  :o  :

Always end up here; only camera van seen today was just exiting Bala, before getting here:

493 miles covered  :eek  That I reckon is my absolute limit in one day.
