I had a pristine XS250 custom in the early eighties which was given to me by a sponsor to commute on (I was using my proddy bike to get to work before, lol). I fitted flat bars and slightly longer rear shocks and it was decent enough. I remember riding to work in the snow on it and it was very comfy, it cost sod all to run. Sadly, after 20,000 miles or so it dropped a valve and that was that. If saw one today for the right price I would perhaps have a punt on restoring it.
Would you though?
Probably. I'd sell it on after a while and would be sure to make a profit. I bought a non runner R80 1980 vintage two years ago spent no more than £200 quid on it and made just shy of £1000 profit. The XS wouldn't make such money but i'd probably make a little. The FS1E by the way would blow any modern four stroke 50cc into the weeds. |
