The old favourites of Paraffin and white spirit seem to be the best and cheapest for degreasing then. Thanks for all the replies

I use the butler to do mine and everything comes up spotlessly clean.
If he's not available then the footman, but the results aren't as good.

[size=1em]WD 40 sprayed onto a rag (Not directly onto wheel as it can get on tyres) is the best thing I have found for chain lube and road tar, leaves the wheels shiny and leaves a non stick deposit on the wheel making it easier to remove muck next time round, plus inhibits rust not that that will help on an alloy wheel [/size]
