Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 01-12-16

We have to get a feller in from time to time when they are doing too much damage, he shoots them with a .308, I'm a member of Monmouth gun club, shoot a 22/10  and a .225 ( my favourite ) but it's all club target stuff, I ain't no good at killing things, never have been mate :-)

Often up in your neck of the woods ogri48, fishing the wonderful River Wye,between Ross and Monmouth.A beautiful part of the country for sure.

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 01-12-16

Yeah the Wye is not far at all, I use that valley road coming home from Chepstow, as you say a beautiful area and great biking road mate

  • EU regs, who give's a shit beyond the fact it means we are forced to have one headlamp on instead of two..?
  • I think you'll find I said and I quote "I would hazard a guess that the wiring is the same as it is on the gen 1"
  • Regarding H4 HID kits, Google the facts you might learn something. In the meantime I will rely on the fact that I have fitted and used multiple HID kits H4, H7, 9006B and base my advise on verifiable hands on data.
  • And Regarding H4 LED replacement bulbs I am more than happy for you to point me at a set that either you or someone else on here has tested with before and after pictures. And  in gesture of putting my money were my mouth is, you find me a set of H4 LED bulbs that I can order for next day delivery on amazon and I will buy and test them...!!! I may even buy a H4 kit and do some comparison shots just to prove my points.
Kind regards

Got some shots of how you mounted them? as I am thinking of moving mine up to the fairing to avoid all the shit they get covered in...

Doh, you may still find getting a set of spots give you that little bit extra. When its wet I find even the two H4 on the Fazer dont illuminate the road as well as a generic car headlight does.

But for now hang fire, as per my reply to smithy I am gonna look at buying the latest gen (5th gen) CREE direct replacement bulbs.

I bought something similar of ebay, with the idea of replacing the stock halogen bulbs with HID. I never did fit the set because there was no easy way to mount then without making up custom brackets to mount them to the forks. If you have a set of engine bars then peice of cake. Then there is the issue of adding a 55wx2 load to the alternator.

  • These H4 replacement bulbs are also sold by Horizon LEDs, but for stupid money. The page is only usefull for info about the current(5th) gen LED units.
  • And found the same set as per Amazon but Sunday delivery and £10 cheaper.
Should the weather be good enough on Sunday I will post some fitting, and before & after shots.

Huh? I quoted from the EU regs that say you can have one headlight or two, why would you repeat the lie that says the EU forces you to have one only?
Did you also hazard a guess that a high/low bulb would work well in a high beam reflector?
You could google the 'facts', (you have been doing a very good job of it so far), but given that I have already posted pics of HID's on a Fazer, not of the bike (your looks good by the way) but of the light pattern on the wall, I think I can say I am speaking from both the 'facts' and from personal experience.
As for LEDs? Which part of the link I posted confused you? I am currently using the H7 version of those bulbs successfully on a Versys 1000 which has a single shitty low beam reflector and a separate, equally shitty high beam reflector. P.S. Do you think I should fit a H4 bulb in the high beam reflector?

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 12-02-19

no but they look ok mate. the difference between the expensive ones and the cheaper ones I put in my transit is both high and low beam are superb. on the cheaper ones low beam is excellent but high beam makes hardly any difference Sad

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - sadlonelygit - 12-02-19

Just fit the HID kit.
I've tried night breakers, 100w bulbs, but none compare to HID.  You get a bit of scatter, but the focused part of the beam more than makes up for it.
As for the matter of scatter, you're on a bike that is bouncing around, so imo scatter is not really an issue.
As an aside, only ever got flashed when I forgot to dip the lights.

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 12-02-19

long time no speak mate. that new bike ok?

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - sadlonelygit - 12-02-19

Gobsmackingly brilliant

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - Old-Git - 13-02-19

I fitted nighteye LEDs, see the difference to standard, and the beam / throw is pretty good as well

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ProdigalSon - 02-03-19

I clicked on the previous link for the LED bulbs on Amazon and it says currently unavailable, I don't want to overload my charging system so am I better with LED bulbs and if so which ones, I don't mind them being expensive if they're good, or should I go with a HID kit, do they draw less current but produce more light?
Sorry to be thick but it would be nice to have some advice from those who have done either. Smile

Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 05-03-19

the expensive ones I got for me fazer are worth every penny as far as im concerned. theres no fan, but there is something akin to the ballast box you get with a HID. I had HID on my cb13, and it was nowhere near as good as these leds. They are plug and play, utterly brilliant on low and high beam, and still going strong after two winters and lots of miles. id go so far as to say the best money ive spent on my fazer, and ive spent quite a bit over the years..
