:agree

Hoping to strip it down, I mean supervise my boy doing it Smile
It'll be good for him as he's wanting to do mechanics when he's older Smile

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - red98 - 12-12-15

At 13 thats a great way to start, thats a lot of learning for £50.......easy to make a profit if sold on once running, that will be another lesson learnt  :thumbup

:agree
I think it's a better Xmas present than most stuff :lol
It'll get him off the couch and away from the TV and be the envy of his mates I'm sure Smile

Think the idea will be.....
Strip it down, get it running, use it for a season to get him into it sort of idea and then either sell or exchange up if he's still into it.
Yes £50 to start, plus parts, plus gear etc, but it'd cost a lot more if I just got a bike already running and he won't gain the experience of stripping the engine and getting it working, which in my opinion is the most important part in this Smile

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - red98 - 12-12-15

Dam, I never thought of that! :b
Maybe I'll just get a wee model bike and wrap that and put that in his stocking Smile
That'll give him something to think about :lol

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - joebloggs - 14-12-15

Motorcycle for Xmas
You want to adopt me?

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - sinto607276 - 23-12-15

Well that's the deal done Smile
Sitting in my garage now and waiting on my boy to see it, so he should be pleased.

So now I'm going to have to look for spare parts.....
Battery, petrol cap, air pod filter (are these just disposable ones), carb cleaner maybe?

Had a wee browse on fleebay, stuff doesn't look that expensive for it so should get it up and running in no time. Smile

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - joebloggs - 23-12-15

I want a picture of Santa getting it down the chimney

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - unfazed - 23-12-15

I started my kids on a TW125 in the fields near home around the 13 year mark.
Local farmer is into bikes so we had full access to fields which were not in use.
They learned to ride, stop, fall, race, slide, fall, and wheelie on it. (they fell a lot at first)
Bought it as a ratteler for €425 stripped the chassis and they helped paint it and put it back together.
Rebored it, put new pistons rings and gudgeon pin into it.
Had over 2 years fun on it and sold it for €600. :woot

When they were ready for the road I put them on the Serow.

Re: Dirt bike/motocross - red98 - 23-12-15

Those look like how it'll end up if I try to get it down the chimney :b

Sorry to disappoint you all but it'll be left in the garage Smile

Part of the deal of me getting it is....once I've done it up and my boy has used it for whatever time scale that is, once I'm ready to sell it on, I've to offer to my mate, who got me the deal, first refusal for his grandson Smile
