Re: Sick of this every foccing year. - fazersharp - 08-05-15 Yes I have seen excess slowly creep up too, and always factor this in when getting quotes. I never knew that about summer quotes - mine is in October, I wonder if it is worth while for those hit by summer quotes to go for a 6month one then 12 even though you will not be adding another year NCB in doing so, is that right that if you only insure 6 months a year you dont gain NCB Re: Sick of this every foccing year. - BBROWN1664 - 08-05-15 I did some playing around when I was renewing mine. Increasing and decreasing the voluntary excess both decreased the premium on the comparison websites as different insurers would quote against different values. Just saying, but worth a play. Re: Sick of this every foccing year. - JoeRock - 08-05-15 Another option - don't worry about the huge excess, just make sure your insurance company does excess protection insurance before you take out a policy! (usually costs an extra £20/£30) - drops your excess, usually cheaper than paying for a policy with a lower excess in the first place Re: Sick of this every foccing year. - chaz - 08-05-15 Bennetts for my FZ6 and MT-01, first year £112 last year £130 (they wanted 170 till I phoned up) this year £195 got Carole Nash to match it plus get "free brakedown etc" told Bennetts to stuff theirs even after they reduced it £25, so I then phoned RAC to cancel my renewal which saves me £85, asked why I told them they have increased the price by over 20% why, I've never used it. House insurance.......... don't have any, I'm taking the risk, couldn't get any to start with as I bought it as uninsured flooded property and when the risk had gone due to flood defences they still wanted over £1000 a year so I must be 15k in pocket now. Rant over. As far a losing your ncb, I wouldn't think you can get it for less than a year but changing the date to suit might save you more in tge long run. I think it just confuses their computer lol Re: Sick of this every foccing year. - jimbojim - 08-05-15 Insurance is just a rip off anyway, I got hit with a drunk driver while driving my car, she was caught, charged ,convicted, fined and banned for 2 years, open and close case you might say, NOT her insurance refused to pay out I never got any reason and my own insurance company were as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike all I got from them was ''pay your excess get your car sorted and we'll take her to small claims court'' I said yeah IF I get it back it'll take 3-4 years, bullshite so now I buy the cheapest no frills no extras insurance I can get |
