Update: some how one of my lights has decided to die
Not sure why yet i need to check the voltage and such to be sure its getting to the lights but 1 down.

Could just be the bulb with any luck?
I've just recently put in a HID, wrong one but it was just to give me an idea of what it'll look like when I get the correct HID and think I'll go for the H4 HID on other side as it looks good me thinks

fixed!
turns out when my indicator fell off it pulled the wire inside the light as it was hanging on by the spotlight wiring
id love hid but id hate to blind other people and the cost puts me off a bit.. ive not seen or been on a fazer at night with hids fitted so no idea if the cost is worth it, easy for others to say "its great" but to test yourself.

Yeah, always the simple things are best checked first, glad you got it working.
I've had HID kits on various other bikes and my cars etc, so I know what there capable of. Lucky that I have a few sets lying in garage, all be it was wrong bulb, but I got it fixed for time being and seems to be the way I'll go tbh. I've riden this set up for a couple of weeks and no one has flashed me to tell me I'm blinding them, even been behind a traffic cop car and they never done anything, so it's looking good. Just need to try some night time riding to check what vision I get

well if you get a new set and wish to part company with a wrong bulb one if it can be jamed in with glue selotape and hope let me know

just bought a pair of h1 hid bulbs 8000k off ebay just need a balast now

Why didn't you get the ballasts when you got the bulbs?
Why would you buy a pair? There's one H1 bulb and one H4 that we need.the H4 bulb needs more than a ballast for it to work due to the dual element, it also needs a separate box that then goes to a power source. You may find that some of these set ups are rubbish due to the two elements, HID's don't take too well to having dual elements.

because they where super cheap so thought it was worth a punt, i probably wont bother with main beam hid ive got spotlights for that

Think i'm going to go with the retrolabs kit, pricy but they seem top notch and come with everything you need.

you'll just need it for MOT purpose :b

It'll give you by far the best results - you get proper HID projectors so get a strong clear light, not really bright but patchy as with normal HID kits (the fazers headlight isn't designed for them and doesn't perform particularly well tbh - its just a lot brighter!)

first few days for testing i was pikey and pushed the wires into the main beam bulb holder/plug. you can just solder the wires to the plug itself or strip a little plastic coating off the main beam wires and solder them.
