[/quote] So five minutes of sanding and two light coats of rattle can lacquer isn't a professional job? :lol I keep my bike fairly clean but I think polishing a daily runner is a total waste of time there's no way you can keep it shiny unless you're out every other day polishing it. Don't bother you'll only regret it in the long run Re: what is the metal... - MC680x0 - 04-09-14 just had a week of commuting after going anal on the polish last weekend; looked like a christmas tree after the polish; now it looks like a turd. and after all that work. :'( so from now on, I'll probably just do the weekly clean to get rid of salt (I live near the Sea), and just frekin ride the thing :rolleyes Re: what is the metal... - fazersharp - 25-08-20 6 years on its lost its shine I don't think I actually lacquered it in the end. Did get a new rubber though ![]() Re: what is the metal... - b1k3rdude - 26-08-20 powder coating is also a reasonably robust option for all the foothangers etc. Re: what is the metal... - fazersharp - 26-08-20 (26-08-20, 09:46 AM)b1k3rdude link Wrote: powder coating is also a reasonably robust option for all the foothangers etc. After almost 20 years with the same bike repeatedly (it seems ) painting the same parts I have come to the conclusion that it is not worth the effort and cost of the paint by the time I have degreased wire brushed on a bench grinder undercoated - top coated I may as well of sent it off to a powder coater for them to do all the work, shot blasting etc. |
