Good luck and safe journey .

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - rustyrider - 14-08-14

Got your fuel stops worked out yet?  I'm assuming Peterborough services at around 6am so am getting myself prepared for an early start to meet up with you.

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - ogri48 - 14-08-14

Sounds about right to me mate, early start for me too, if that timing is right will leave norwich at 4. You boys going all fazered up? Smile

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - rustyrider - 14-08-14

As all my other toys have 4 wheels, the Fazer is the only option.....

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - adeejaysdelight - 14-08-14

You guys are more organized than me  :lol . My work has been having me in every bloody day. 51 hours overtime this month, and it's only the 14th!!! I am off for 31 days as of the 22nd though  Big Grin .

Right, I just fired up the Zumo and took a picture of the route (still getting to grips with it) and then compared it with google maps. It seems to be the same road its taking us, so here is the pic of the Zumo and the screenshot.

If you want to further investigate search Glasgow to CO12 4SR and it should give you the same result.

We will stop for fuel every 150 miles or so. I can't commit to specific times, but we set off at midnight so you can work out roughly when we'll be passing you and let me know.

Feel free to hit me up for any more info and I'll get back when I can.

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - rustyrider - 14-08-14

Looks like the Zumo is taking you down the M11 and across on the A120, whereas Google wants you to go down the A14.  There's not a lot in it I must admit.  I know that from my place to Glasgow is 324 miles having done it quite a few times recently so your first fuel stop is likely to be Scotch Corner.  That's just over 160 miles from Glasgow and then the Peterborough A1(M) services will be a further 160 miles.  After that it's whichever route you choose to take but you'll need to fill up again in or near Harwich.

Looks like we'll be seeing you at the Peterborough services at around 6am next Friday.......

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - adeejaysdelight - 20-08-14

So, I'll be setting off in a little over 24 hours. I got my bike back together last night after a fair bit of work. Had a road test today and scrubbed in the new tyres. Fule'd up and bags almost packed. And, of course, I picked up the poppy!

Its not to late if you would like to donate to the Erskine Hospital.

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - rustyrider - 21-08-14

I haven't gone quite that far but I have given mine an oil and filter change and a coat of VHT paint on the downpipes.  I'm looking at getting to Peterborough A1(M) services at 05:30 to meet up with you and be wingman down to Harwich.  I think I should recognise your bike now, mines silver and a lot less shiny......

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - adeejaysdelight - 21-08-14

Perfect Rusty. We will stop at Peterborough services when we get there, fuel up and do the last 2 hours or so together.

I will be on that (^) and my mate will be on a blue SV650 with a bright YELLOW bag on the back.

Its looking like its going to be a rough night of rain and wind. A perfect way to start the trip :'(

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - mickvp - 21-08-14

Indeed. I won't make it to meet you tonight (as I thought it was the Friday night, and also because rain and wind :lol)

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - adeejaysdelight - 21-08-14

Re: Centenary Memorial Poppy Tour 2014 - adeejaysdelight - 21-08-14

Last check in before we set off. Rusty, we are leaving an hour earlier because the weather is looking a bit dodgy. We don't want to miss our ferry...

If you are still up for meeting us, that's cool. But if it is to early, I understand.

Ciao for now foccers.

Lest we forget.
