Re: Totally baffled by PCN - Fazafou - 06-05-14 I got a pcn off Haringey council years ago for riding in a bus lane. Took them to PATAS claiming their signage was insufficient and won. Great feeling that was ![]() Call council direct to prove its not a scam and get the photo / video evidence (they can't withold it) and check all the signage and whether there was a reason for doing it. Re: Totally baffled by PCN - dazza - 06-05-14 link fail :\ Re: Totally baffled by PCN - Exupnut - 06-05-14 Go onto islington.gov and find the parking/fine section. Type the pcn number in and see if it was u on the pictures. Re: Totally baffled by PCN - noggythenog - 06-05-14 Theres a positive story could come outta this. You say that you were riding Nicks bike in wales......or he says he was riding your van through lundin........then one o yous gets outta jail......both got yellow bikes anyway so no drama. :b Re: Totally baffled by PCN - Punkstig - 06-05-14 Problem is as the charge has gone directly to his company (the registered owner of the vehicle) they have probably paid the charge already in order to pay at the cheaper rate, and are now pursuing the money back from the driver! Although I'd be happy for dazza to tell me I'm wrong and he is being given a chance to defend himself! (but I doubt that!) Re: Totally baffled by PCN - fazersharp - 06-05-14 Wait a cottton picking mo. Its says PCN --- that stands for parking charge notice. I think its your company that has been scammed by the fake notice and they have just paid it and now are trying to pas it on to you. Have a look here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163 Re: Totally baffled by PCN - dazza - 06-05-14 It stands for penalty charge notice and I have just seen the photos and as Unfazed and kosmic said I have driven through the wider centre bit, no bollards or arrow but a sign that I can't make out from the pictures but white parallel lines on the road. Think I've got tohold my hands up. Will see if I can post a pic up when I'm on the laptop. London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2003 38JL Failing to comply with a sign indicating that vehicular traffic must pass to the specified side of the sign. ![]() Re: Totally baffled by PCN - fazersharp - 06-05-14 Ah I am wrong then, sorry Re: Totally baffled by PCN - midden - 07-05-14 (06-05-14, 11:45 PM)fazersharp link Wrote: Ah I am wrong then, sorryDon't ya just hate that Re: Totally baffled by PCN - Fazafou - 07-05-14 (06-05-14, 11:31 PM)dazza link Wrote: It stands for penalty charge notice and I have just seen the photos and as kosmic said I have driven through the wider centre bit, no bollards or arrow but a sign that I can't make out from the pictures . If there was no bollard or blue sign with the arrow to indicate which side to go you have a case to argue it. If the companies already paid it though its a pain. Re: Totally baffled by PCN - dazza - 07-05-14 Just checked the photo again and there was bollards there. Photos not clear enough to see any arrows but think I'm bang to rights on this one. :\ Going to question why it has taken them so long to issue the PCN but think I'm focced tbh. The real frustration about this is that last night I came out the office and disturbed and challenged a group of 5 men trying to steal one of our company vans, took a photo of their car and put myself right in the firing line and guess what, NO camera has been accessed to trace these 5 car thieves but there am I going through a wide bit. :wall Re: Totally baffled by PCN - dazza - 07-05-14 And now for the good news ![]() Re: Totally baffled by PCN - Punkstig - 07-05-14 Personally I'd challenge the pcn stating that you're using their own photos as your evidence that no signage is visible in these lighting conditions to state which side to travel through! Re: Totally baffled by PCN - cfoley - 07-05-14 Naa. I'd settle for being branded a hero and letting the company pay it as a reward. Re: Totally baffled by PCN - locksmith - 07-05-14 Most obvious thing is that the hatchings are surrounded by a solid white line so no excuse really Punkstig I'd have thought. Just got to take the lack of observation on the chin and use the experience to good effect in the future. I don't know what made me go through there really as I don't usually and am very aware that there are cameras watching our every move in London. Must have let my guard down. Still, won't do it again and it's not coming out my wages now so, who gives a foc. :lol Re: Totally baffled by PCN - hightower - 07-05-14 These sorts of lanes are new to me - can I ask what the purpose of them is? Re: Totally baffled by PCN - midden - 07-05-14 Yeah I'd take it on the chin. No missing the fact that picture's a diamond ![]() Re: Totally baffled by PCN - dazza - 07-05-14 What the real purpose? To prey on your natural reaction to take the wider and safer route to prevent scraping your vehicle on the ridiculously tight gap that they want you to go through and setting up a camera to capture you doing this thus raising revenue for the said local authority. :b |
