And how easy is carb balance

Easy enough Wink Carbs out, tie some string around the carbs and hang them off a flat surface. If it hangs to the left add some weights on the right, if it hangs to the right add some to the left until it's balanced. Make sure you use a spirit level when you install them back on the bike Wink
[/quote]....dude?..you are a fkn genius!! Wink ...never knew you could do it that way!! :rolleyes

Can you balance ya tyres the same way?? :o

Have a quick glance around your engine mounting bolts, and make sure they're all as should be.

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 23-04-14

Will do. There's also a slight whirring noise (quiet though, and only sometimes) when decelerating.

I'm probably just being paranoid as the bike seems to be running pretty sweet.

Re: Ticking? - His Dudeness - 23-04-14

A slight whirring noise when decelerating means the wheels are about to fall off

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 23-04-14

Both of them? Oh, snap. How unusual both will fall off at same time.

Re: Ticking? - His Dudeness - 23-04-14

this chap had a slight whirring sound on deceleration too

front wheel fell off

Re: Ticking? - HarryHornby - 23-04-14

If you take the front wheel off and wheely everywhere that stops ALL rattles from the engine because the engine is tilted back more, (something to do with gravity pushing all the joints together, or something) also, good for speed cameras because your numberplate is pointing more towards the floor this way!  :b

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 23-04-14

Dudeness, I see where you are coming from - mine is a slightly higher pitched whine so not sure it's that. Actually, come to think of it - it only happens when the wife is pillion.....  :rollin

Re: Ticking? - darrsi - 23-04-14

Are you on about the general gearbox whine?
That's the reason i immediately took off the stock exhaust to drown it out with a noisier one!

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 23-04-14

Possibly, not used to quietness like this. It does sound like gearbox though

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 25-04-14

OK so I balanced the carbs last night. They weren't too far out but it needed doing. Anyway, got them done - engine does feel a little smoother to ride but I still have that noise coming from clutch.

Can this be safely ignored or do I need to take some other action?

Re: Ticking? - His Dudeness - 25-04-14

It's fine. If you're really worried about it bring it to a mechanic and let him listen to it

Re: Ticking? - hightower - 25-04-14

It's due for an MOT in a month, so will just get it listened to then.

Thanks for help.
