Fitted on Saturday, couldn't take it out as had my daughter.
Although it's apparently set up at the workshop for ordered requirements it felt very soft when sitting on it.
It came adjusted to 10 clicks out (22 max which must be like a bouncy castle!) changed this to 7 clicks, much firmer.
I also adjusted pre load, adding to it.
Unfortunately the commute is M25, so straight and flat, came off at junction for work and easily, I mean ridiculously easily planted left knee down, very very comfortable taking corners as if it was on the proverbial rails!

Good to hear that, glad you're enjoying it. Strangely enough, the Wilbers I had made to my spec & requirements also came very soft and I did the same as you.

Well, atm it's a long term keeper, and being my only bike means trackdays will be had on it, so it made sense in my head to spend the money on improving handling, last time at Bedford autodrome I was the only fazer, as much as I showed some people up on more serious machinery the suspension did limit how much I could push it.
Times have changed!

Glad it's good. Maybe one day I'll invest in some decent suspension upgrades. think I need more miles under my belt first though.

Tbh on this bike Chris upgrade the suspension as soon as you have the pennies, it will inspire more confidence than standard, hence mileage experience isn't the right way of looking at it.
Unless of course you see the fazer as a midway bike to the next!

A good point, I love my fazer and don't see me selling it on for a long time but for the mileage I do per year, about 3kish, then it's a very expensive mod. It's definitely on the list of things to do though! The standard suspension is capable enough for me at the moment but I see what you mean about having better suspension may in fact help me have more confidence. I guess it's a kind of balance between cost and need.

This forum makes me want to spend money. I've only had my boxeye for about 18 months and have never really thought that the standard suspension was a limiting factor. It seems to handle sweet to me on the standard stuff. Having said that I don't ride like Rossi but I can get a shift on when the mood takes me. If it feels ok to me now, would I actually notice an improvement with something like this Nitron jobbie ? I only ask because I am toying with the small seed of an idea of swapping the boxeye out for another bike or taking the plunge to upgrade the suspension and hang onto it for a couple more years. Its an expensive upgrade to make if I wouldn't really notice an improvement. If my rear (standard) shock was knackered, it would be a 'no brainer' but it still seems fine, even two up. Its only done 16,000 miles at present so I'm guessing it's still up to the job ???

It will be, but service life for a standard shock isn't much more than 20,000, especially if you're doing a lot of 2 up, if the cost is an issue then look into the R6 upgrade that's doing the rounds

Honestly mate, if you can do it, do so. You'll notice a huge improvement, particularly if you sort out the front with springs and oil at the same time!
You'll really be surprised just how much better upgraded suspension is compared to budget stuff, you'll just have so much confidence in the bike and your abilities on it! That said, if you feel like you need more power/different riding position on something along those lines, then I wouldn't bother, but if you think you could keep the fazer for a while definitely do it!

Well it's no so much that the cost is an issue but like most people I don't want to spend the money if I wouldn't notice that much of an improvement. I have upgraded to the R6 shock on my Gen 1 but to be fair I haven't ridden the Gen 1 for over 12 months due to using the boxeye (shameful) so I don't know how it performs yet :\
Besides, if I was upgrading the suspension on the boxeye I would want to try something that is a straight swap rather than having to make any modifications, which I believe you have to do by fitting the R6 unit. I was kind of set on the Hyperpro rear shock for the boxeye but it seems as though the Nitron is getting good feedback on here and the price is very similar.

Thanks for that JR. I'm not really looking in swapping to something vastly different. I like the versatility and riding position of the boxeye so was thinking along the lines of something like an FZ8 to give me a little more umphh but not quite as extreme as my Gen 1. I guess even with only 16,000 on the boxeye I would probably notice the difference, especially if, like you say, I upgrade the front end too. I just figure that £400 sheets is a fair bit of wedge spent on a 16 year old bike that could be put towards an FZ8 (or similar) if I decide to swap. I know it's not a decision that anyone else can make for me but advice is always welcomed

I still have to phone nitron to confirm but I've heard you can send them the shock back and for around £100 they'll do the necessary changes to fit your new bike, therefore the shock could be with you for life in theory!

Less than £100.
I sent them an FZ8 shock and asked them to make it for an FZ1, they just charged me for the price of the spring (£25) plus post.

I mentioned before- I have a Hagon for the T'cat, phoned them asking if they can make adjustments to fit it to the fazer 'no' was the long answer!
Even more of a reason to spend that extra money on the Nitron!

It was basically a spring swap they did with mine.
I don't know about making it work with other models as the length/mountings will be different.
