Re: New Top Gear - noggythenog - 05-02-14 Deadeye quote "I also enjoyed the Hot Hatch part for its creation of nostalgia as I had 2x Mk2 Golf GTi's (8v) as well ^^ Awesome cars and I would probably buy one again, but a decent example - not the two dogs I had before ![]() ... I still haven't paid more than £500 for a car. Ever. :\ " I had a very early 8v, with the small bumpers, it was a peach, very torquey..it was previously owned by my dad....for his birthday once i got him a full set of Billstein dampers and springs and man did that thing handle like a rollerskate.......about a year later i went in for the kill, this was in 2001......i swapped my dad my N reg Vauxhall Astra 1.4 bore bore :z for his golf :deal :woot :woot :woot Since then i have owned *Honda Civic Type R *VW Polo GTI *Renault Clio (company car) *Seat Leon TDI 90 mapped to 125 *Suzuki Ignis Sport *Skoda Fabia Diesel *Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo (current car) so i've basically wasted lots of money on cars since that swap in 2001.........what's my dad driving now........still the Vauxhall Astra the bastard!!!, it never missed a beat, totally reliable as foc, rusting a bit now though with 140k on the clock. there's gotta be a moral to the story somewhere. ![]() Re: New Top Gear - ChristoT - 05-02-14 What, waste money on the Noggyfighter instead? A much worthier cause! :lol Re: New Top Gear - Dead Eye - 05-02-14 (05-02-14, 12:55 AM)noggythenog link Wrote: Deadeye quote If my Golfs had been in decent condition, I would probably still be driving them now ![]() My total car history goes something like; Peugeot 106 Peugeot 306 (Blew up...) Peugeot 106 (Yup, same one) Golf Mk2 GTi (Gave up on life) Golf Mk2 GTi (Gave up on life before I bought it :\ ) MG ZS 180 Saloon (Current Car) The only 3 I bought were the two Golfs and the MG. The most expensive was the first Golf at £500 ![]() Re: New Top Gear - Gav - 05-02-14 Yes enjoy watching TopGear with my 12year old son. It makes him laugh out loud ![]() Edit .. yes I didn't like the blatant vandalism smashing up those old walls??! Re: New Top Gear - jason1 - 05-02-14 Always been a big fan of TopGear and there pissing about. I do agree however that parts of sundays dragged and just didnt work . Its not the first time or will be the last time. As long as they keep me laughing ill be watching. :lol Re: New Top Gear - shady - 08-02-14 (02-02-14, 11:26 PM)chris.biker link Wrote: I stopped watching it ages ago. Its not a motoring programme any more. l agree with you there Chris, it has very little to do with motoring these days, just lots of tom foolery and vandalism by 3 overpaid uninformative pranksters :rolleyes Re: New Top Gear - Chris - 10-02-14 Really enjoyed tonight's episode (episode 2). Not too much titting about, lovely camera shots, nice cars and an entertaining guest. Chris Re: New Top Gear - ChristoT - 10-02-14 I caught most of it. Loved James May's piece. I think he got the tone just right. Was it priced low because of the gearbox issue? Re: New Top Gear - Dead Eye - 10-02-14 I paid £460 for the MG - though when I bought it, it couldn't go backwards... hence the low price Still, I paid £90 for a second hand gearbox and fitted it myself, so even then it only comes to £550 - plus there was nothing wrong come MOT time, unlike the Golfs... Re: New Top Gear - Fuzzy - 10-02-14 I think you've done very nicely there, especially now it can go backwards! :lol Re: New Top Gear - slimwilly - 13-02-14 Re: New Top Gear - Exupnut - 13-02-14 Clarkson... U utter Cock Re: New Top Gear - Skippernick - 13-02-14 Thats not really him Pete, its just a cartoon image, keep taking the pills :lol Re: New Top Gear - locksmith - 14-02-14 Just watched ep2 on iplayer, a definite step up from the first one! Re: New Top Gear - mr self destruct - 14-02-14 Anyone remember The Word on Channel 4 in the 90's? Bag of shit but you still had to watch it when you rolled in pissed from the pub. The latest generation of Top Gear is just like that. And Jeremy Clarkson is the Alf Garnett of automotive journalism IMO, amusing as long as you don't actually believe anything he says. Re: New Top Gear - Dead Eye - 16-02-14 I quite enjoyed this evenings episode - probably the best of the series so far... plus I do find Chernobyl fascinating The Zenvo. If the reliability wasn't an issue and money aside, I'd probably have one. I liked it, it was mad and a bit old-fashioned tech wise, but I prefer that to the high tech gadgetry of say, a Ferrari. In fact, the only Ferrari I would ever consider is the California... which is quite far-fetched for a Ferrari considering the list of "firsts" it achieved, including its front engined V8 Re: New Top Gear - noggythenog - 16-02-14 Ye i was into tonights episode and the soviet era stuff like chernobyl and the old submarine and missile bases was genuinely interesting (theres a recent river monsters episode where he fishes at Chernobyl deadeye ![]() Plus they hinted that they realise people want to see more normal car reviews and seeing the small car review is a step in the right direction i reckon. Re: New Top Gear - ChristoT - 17-02-14 That Zenvo rocked! Old school supercar styling, that new Lambo was just too boring! Re: New Top Gear - Dead Eye - 17-02-14 Yeah, I do agree with what they said about the new Lambo, BUT we do have to remember that this is a Gallardo replacement - its not the top of their range so its not surprising and with Audi behind the scenes it wouldn't surprise me if some of the design team may have influenced the calmer design. |
