If you need a mechanics point of view I own and run Motorcycle Republic and have specialised in Fazers for years. Having worked on loads of forum members bikes right from the old days of the 98 bikes through to the newer FZ6 and FZ1s.
Although I dont specialise solely in Fazers anymore, I have owned dozens of them and rebuilt, repaired, Scraped off of the road, and pieced back together many many more. I still carry a huge amount of 2nd handy fazer stock and am always here or here abouts for advice.

, but M/cycle Maniacs was not a misspelling but a longstanding, slightly affectionate and now not very funny bowdlerism of Mechanics used by all and sundry over the years. Berk, and M/cycle Spite were other, similar exaggerations also beloved of boring old hacks such as moi, and why anyone would want to try and scam your excellent forum I can't imagine. :\ I have however now had a couple of genuine offers of help for which many thanks. Credit to the forum will, as I mentioned yesterday, appear in the resulting piece.

Well, respect to you then sir. Personally I only use the Berk one for Performance Berks and Fast Berks - Bike was always one of the better magazines in my view, and still remember my first copy with affection. Hadn't heard the use of Maniacs myself, so if I'm not counted among "all and sundry", I guess that must leave me in some kind of limbo :lol
Quite right about lack of youngsters coming into motorcycling too, very sad times
Look forward to continuing to read your columns, and will especially keep an eye out for the hopefully upcoming Fazer article :thumbup

Still at least Mark has hung around a bit and answered questions and concerns. Many journalists post a "Give me info" thread and are never heard of again. Some members have spent time and effort writing to them only to receive no reply or acknowledgement. So fair play to Mark in that respect.
However the info. he wanted was in the FZS600 board on the first page, so I suggest that not much research was performed, and that perhaps a school magazine reporter would have done more.
And anyway, in time the Foxeye will be more of a classic than the Boxeye (oh yes it will!).

oh no it wont........collectors are always more interested in the very early models....have a look at fizzy`s on the bay...early ones go mad but the later ones which they updated and just dont have "the look" struggle to get any bids................i am surprised theres not many of you that hav`nt heard of mark....hes be writing for many years ( sorry mark ) think hes a similar age to me so have the same memories of bikes gone by........i know i`ve plugged this before but get yourself a copy of "classic motorcyle mechanics" its a good read,not only for marks column but it has some great "how to features" for anyone who likes to do their own maintence.........

If you are still reading this, please accept apologies from myself at least for the way this forum has treated what was at the outset a genuine request for help. I read Bike mag right from owning my first bike in 1976, and well remember the contribution you guys made to ignite my passion for motorbikes which I still have today. I never rode FZS600s, have owned and ridden FZS1000s since 2001. Along the way I have met various journos, contributed to info gathering etc, and always did whatever I could to help.
IF you ever do a piece on the FZS1000, I can assure you of much better attention !

You can't make the same comparison with the fz1es. The new one was a nostalgic relaunch of the original and like the Raleigh chopper was a cock up. The foxeye on the otherhand is a natural progression, improving from original which is this case paid off. Unlike the raleigh grifter 2 imo

yeh...ok...good point...i also have a very early 1975 honda 400/4 supersport f1,registered in the same month as they were launched,its details like this that attracts collectors and pushes up the price
