Just remember this when the Para's lost control in Londonderry and shot 13 dead? that momentary madness ensured Martin McGuiness & Gerry Adams had young lads joining the Provo's (IRA) for the next 30 years, the net result of that episode led to over 3000 deaths in N Ireland and sadly plenty on the main land as well, mostly innocents murdered by both sides.
My point is discipline has to be maintained to the highest degree by our armed forces, it is what puts us above the rest. I can understand what has happened but it can never be condoned.
A similar situation could develop in the UK with every mad mullah preaching hatred at Friday prayers, We have already had one young lad hacked to death outside his barricks.
The judge tough should never ever named the Marine.
I am not wanting to start a debate about N Ireland just making an analogy.

I'm with Fazerider etc. - odd though it sounds, war has rules : the Geneva Convention - and if we don't respect them we're no better than any other bunch of terrorists. If you don't like 'em, don't sign up, simples. And certainly don't break 'em on camera!!

After WW2 they hung German officers for ordering the execution of British POWs. Wrong decision?
The Americans lost the Vietnam war at home because of actions like this. I don't want our vets (myself and two of my brothers amongst them) being spat on at home because of the actions of some hothead.
