But what really wound me up when i received the kit, sat reading through the manual was that oxford even said they could be mounted both ways, so why the foc did they decided to have OXFORD upside down the way I have fitted them? bastards :lol . Probably because the majority of people would have the cables going downwards, so that Oxford would be seen at the top. I'm not having a dig, it's just that i've never seen them fitted like that before. ![]()
Re: My Fazer - darrsi - 21-12-13 (21-12-13, 06:09 PM)Fizzy Pies link Wrote:
I disagree, the other way is just wrong for me! I couldn't be without them now, whoever created them needs a pat on the back. Re: My Fazer - limax2 - 21-12-13 In your last photo the stuff in the packet is of course a replacement front sprocket nut and lock-washer, hopefully the 12mm nut ![]() That sat-nav position is looking very good and should be easy to glance at without taking your eyes of the road too much. :thumbup Re: My Fazer - Fuzzy - 21-12-13 Well I have the clutch side grip positioned with the wires coming out underneath, and the throttle side with the wires coming out from the top :b The reason for this is if the rhs grip is positioned so the wires come out from below, if you're braking (heavily) whilst the throttle is open, there potential for the rubber bit where the wires exit to interfere with the brake lever. In theory that should not happen that often, but I frequently blip the throttle on downshifts so it's better to be on the safe side. I don't trail brake on the road either but that is another scenario where interference could occur. Loving the satnav bracket Fizzy! If you're looking from the right side of the bike i think i've positioned the cable at about the 7 o'clock mark, so it won't interfere at all. Each to their own though. ![]() Re: My Fazer - Fuzzy - 21-12-13 (21-12-13, 06:46 PM)darrsi link Wrote:Braking heavily with the throttle open? Or perhaps I should say when the brake lever comes back towards the bar. Eg. If your brakes need bleeding that could happen whilst not necessarily braking super hard. Shape of the lever could also influence how soon contact between that protruding bit of the grip and brake lever occurs. For me, as we're talking brakes, there's merit in being on the safe side. If you blip the throttle on downshifts, you are usually braking, sometimes very hard with the lever pulled all the way back, whilst pulling the clutch in and opening the throttle, sometimes a lot, to match the engine revs to the rear wheel revs. So yes braking heavily with the throttle open does happen if you employ this technique. Also, if you are trail braking, you can brake surprisingly hard whilst maintaining an open throttle mid corner. However, most people do that on track not the road, if at all. If where you've positioned your grip means that there isn't any contact at max open throttle and max lever pulled back, like you've done Darrsi, that's the safest arrangement imho. Each to their own, as with riding technique & style, but a mate of mine had interference on his bike and it did bother me somewhat, me have OCD perhaps :lol Re: My Fazer - Fuzzy - 22-12-13 (21-12-13, 07:20 PM)Fizzy Pies link Wrote:CDO looks better :lol Very professional looking job. How much did the whole thing set you back? Re: My Fazer - ChristoT - 23-12-13 Heated grips. Pussy. ![]() Re: My Fazer - darrsi - 23-12-13 (23-12-13, 10:23 AM)ChristoT link Wrote:Heated grips. Pussy. You need to hold onto them for long enough to get the full benefit. :b Re: My Fazer - richfzs - 23-12-13 :rollin Re: My Fazer - Fazerider - 04-01-14 That's a neat job... wouldn't have believed there was room for it there. :thumbup I installed mine under the seat, it's at a pretty shallow angle but that doesn't affect it and refilling is a doddle. Re: My Fazer - Skippernick - 04-01-14 I have those grips Fizzy, be interesting to see if yours do the same as mine on the left side, i.e. as you roll your hand forward to grab the clutch lever you wear away the grips to the point of it becoming smooth. Note to self need to pass feedback to nick crisp!! Re: My Fazer - darrsi - 05-01-14 Does that camera just uplug easily enough? I have the original style Oxford grips and I have exactly the same as you on the clutch side. RE cameras, would love to have a wired in permanent cam set-up but living in London & parking up on the street all the time, I know it's gonna be tampered with so I have a Contour Roam2 that I mount either on the fairing or on my lid instead. |
