Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 24-09-13 Evenin All, Frame is naked now aside from one head bearing race but that shouldn't be too tricky. Took me a while to figure out how to remove the swing arm bearings without damaging them but got there in the end. Powder coating should start early next week assuming I get chance to clean everything at the weekend. I'm really not looking forward to starting on that engine! Re: Restoraion - Punkstig - 24-09-13 Pink is the way forward! Re: Restoraion - darrsi - 24-09-13 (24-09-13, 10:34 PM)Punkstig link Wrote: Pink is the way forward! If that was the case then you would be called 'Pinkstig' ![]() Re: Restoraion - Punkstig - 24-09-13 :lol Pink is getting very popular in the chop scene! Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 24-09-13 Ha ha I was waiting for some inspiration from Punkstig; but Pink......surely not! Re: Restoraion - Frosties - 25-09-13 How about going for the old yellow FS1E scheme with speed blocks like this.......reckon it would look great! https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=_-JqG1TTMZnxsM&tbnid=XYL1WsbmYxQMKM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motorcyclehobbies.co.uk%2FFS1E.htm&ei=rYRCUvzFD8Se0wX-woC4Cw&bvm=bv.53077864,d.d2k&psig=AFQjCNFkD_YflT3P8aX4mWVSxzV9T4iutg&ust=1380177446736942 Re: Restoraion - Punkstig - 25-09-13 Personally I love the speedblock paint scheme, but when you have a blank canvas then surely go nuts! Ideas what I gone and thunk of- Herbie the love bug paint scheme. (Think this would fit well with a flat tracker style bike) Dukes of hazard general lee (but been done before) I've always wanted to have mine painted up like an X-wing and my top box painted up like R2D2 (still a possibility in the future I think) Someone should throw caution to the wind and do a Tiger stripe bike, that guy would have massive balls! But, while you have the opportunity I'd definitely think of doing the frame a different colour, I think the Daytona's and the R1's look lovely! Re: Restoraion - Doubleclix - 29-09-13 Crikey! I thought I was "restoring" my bike! :b Re: Restoraion - nick crisp - 29-09-13 (25-09-13, 08:01 AM)Punkstig link Wrote: Personally I love the speedblock paint scheme, but when you have a blank canvas then surely go nuts! Who in their right mind would put tiger stri............oh. :tape :lol Re: Restoraion - jason1 - 29-09-13 Black frame , pearlescent white the rest - maybe some black details/stripes :eek Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 12-09-15 Afternoon all, bit ofa thread bump! As you might have guessed things stalled a little on the project, mainly due to a baby but I've started again and things are coming along albeit slowly. I've tried to attach some picture of the engine so you can see the progress. During the break a few bits have been lost, nothing significant but and most are easily replaced. I'm current rebuilding the head and have managed to lose the exhaust valve spring seats, does anyone have a broken engine so have some spare or point me in the right direction so I can source some replacements. Thanks Re: Restoraion - Bretty - 12-09-15 Are you anywhere near London? I have this pile sat outside my flat. I took the gearbox out and this is the remains of the donor. By the way, that looks like an awesome job! Re: Restoraion - Chris - 12-09-15 Looks great! Decided what to do with the rest of it paint wise? Chris Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 12-09-15 Thanks Bretty. Unfortunately I'm in Yorkshire, my brother lives in London so I might be able to sort something but he's not the mechanical! No decision on the paint yet, I'll cross that bridge when the engine and carbs are finished. Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 12-09-16 Bit of a bump and further update. I've moved house which put another delay on the restoration; I've also managed to lose all the photos I took during the tear down so that should make things interesting. Anyway I'm moving albeit slowly on with things see the pictures below. I've included a picture of the headlight frame so you can see what I'm working with and appreciate why everything takes so long. Hopefully more regular updates will follow and no doubt lots of questions! All the best. Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 12-11-16 Evening all, Bike is coming along slowly, I'll post some pics but it wont let me at the moment for some reason. Couple of questions: There are two pipes coming out of the bottom of the air box and in to a T junction and into a filter and then another pipe to lord knows where. I only know this from the parts diagram as I don't remember this from the tear down and consequently I don't have the bits. Any ideas what it does and where it goes? Also there is mesh type filter in a black plastic bulb on the top of the carbs, it looks like it should have a pipe on it, any ideas if it should and where it goes? Thanks. |
