Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 06-02-13 Yep, just found a little bit of paint rub where my bag has caught the paint behind the seat. Ill be putting a piece of tubing in there for the next one methinks. Thanks for the observations, as everything that's manufactured, its a constantly evolving design. As for colour coding, well I'd have to source the correct paint per bike at quite a cost, and I'm not the greatest of sprayers. Probably not a good idea for me to do it tbh, I'd only screw it up ![]() Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2 Re: DIY luggagae rack - DryRob - 06-02-13 you could just sell them bare or prime them Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 06-02-13 (06-02-13, 06:14 PM)DryRob link Wrote: you could just sell them bare or prime them Yep, whatever the buyer wants really. Re: DIY luggagae rack - scottsmith1972 - 07-02-13 hello bud checked out the size mine is 50mm front centre of bolt to bolt. so would like one of these racks will it come in blk like picture and how would you mlike payment. Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 07-02-13 No problem, ill make a start on it this afternoon. I can make the rack slightly smaller if you want to fit a top box, or leave it the way it is. It is quite large though! And yep ill do it in gloss black smoothrite. Might take a day or two to dry though. ![]() As per payment, you can do a bank transfer, or PayPal. Transfer is preferable though, ill pm you my details when I get cracking with the rack. Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 07-02-13 Ha,ha, its the same one I've got my eye on. :o cheap and cheerful, but I think quality is a bit low. Does the job though. Ill keep the rack the same size, but put a couple more cross bars in to support the baseplate. Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 08-02-13 Just had a look this morning, and the paint hasn't quite gone right (too cold last night maybe) so ill flat it back and try again today with a heater on it. Ill probably be able to post it on Monday. Re: DIY luggagae rack - scottsmith1972 - 08-02-13 thanks for the update bud. Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 08-02-13 Here's my 'work donkey' all kitted up for the morning commute. Its what the rack was built for. Paint is now on, and its looking pretty good. Fan heater made a world of difference to the paint ![]() Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2 Re: DIY luggagae rack - scottsmith1972 - 08-02-13 ok great. Re: DIY luggagae rack - DryRob - 08-02-13 wouldn't it be easier to move than lug that around everyday? :lol Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 08-02-13 Doing 12 hour shifts atm, feels like I'm never away from work. I was thinking of moving in there. It'll save me 200 miles per week! Re: DIY luggagae rack - simonm - 20-02-13 Hiya. I'm interested in one of these too :-). Please can you tell me if it allows the pillion handle to be fitted as well ? Also curious if the 3 fitment holes (as per this pic http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=336432&image=643854630&images=643854630,643854651,643854666&formats=0,0,0&format=0) are needed for fitting a top box ? Your feedback and/or tweak ideas would be appreciated :-) Simon Re: DIY luggagae rack - stevierst - 20-02-13 No you can't fit the pillion handle unfortunately, the box section steel is a bit too big for that. I could possibly add a grab handle to the rack made out of box section. As for the holes in the photo, well most top boxes come with a fitting kit that includes adjustable bars that can be bolted through the mounting plate. I've fitted a few boxes to Renntec racks this way in the past. |
