Haha, never miss an opportunity with that stuff do you Darrsi :lol You must be on commision :rollin Either that or you think it really does make a difference. I've never tried it so can't comment. Chris
I tried it,plus i adjusted the foot lever, plus i never try to change gear quickly or at high revs from 1st to 2nd. All of the above worked wonders I is chuffed 8) Re: 1-2 gear change - darrsi - 29-04-13 I forgot you tried it Noggy, i'm glad you feel it worked 'cos i'm still convinced it works brilliantly. I've not heard a bad review of it yet by someone that's actually given it a trial. Thers defo more smotheness on my bikes gear change since sticking it in,& its not jus coz ive changed the oil coz the old oil was basically still brand new when it came out.i did stick some in my car & i was convinced it workedthere to but to be honest i cant feel it any more coz im positive ive got a problem that i cant prove so its totally fikd up my darsi8 experiment...the bike is running sweet though 8) Re: 1-2 gear change - noggythenog - 29-04-13 (29-04-13, 03:34 PM)Chris link Wrote:
No, you may not. Chris
Dont worry about chris....he's just bitter coz he doesnt have a bike yet...he's maintained it so much it died All he needs is a bit o darsi 8 & some blue hoses & bobs yur uncle he'll be back with a vengance!!! ![]() Re: 1-2 gear change - Chris - 29-04-13 Hahaha! Wish I had time to work on it to get it finished!! Hate not having my own garage to work in! If I find my gear changes clunky then I'll give the active8 stuff a try but anything is better than the terrible gearbox that honda put in the cbr125 I learned on. Essentially a gearbox from a motox bike so it would take a lot of beating but you really had to be quite forecfull with it... It was made to be stamped on but not for smoothness... Chris Re: 1-2 gear change - darrsi - 30-04-13 After the few comments yesterday i rode home from work and in contrast to what people are saying on here my gear changing from 1st to 2nd was seamless and very smooth, as in virtually all of the gears. The only time it clunks is neutral to 1st, but even that's not as bad as it used to be. ![]() Re: 1-2 gear change - riz - 30-04-13 (29-12-12, 09:42 PM)Deefer666 link Wrote: It would also help if you removed the sprocket cover and cleaned the chain lube/road gunk out of the clutch push mechanism. I use brake cleaner for this and then once clean relube with a good quality spray grease.... This will make a big difference to the clutch. As i doubt the previous owner gave it much tlc i thought i'd do this today, oh my!!!!, i wish i'd taken a piccie, it was FULL of old chain oil/grit etc, so currently cleaning/relubeing now. One question in all the gunk i found a 1 1/2" cylindrical white nylon bush, i'm guessing this is mean to go onto the gear selector rod? (pretty sure it was just floating in the gunk) EDIT, Found some pictures and it does. Next door is a childminder so will have to wait untillthe school run to see if its any different now (i'm sure the power/weight ratio will have improved!!) Re: 1-2 gear change - riz - 30-04-13 Feels better 1-2, although to be fair it never felt that bad. Now i've got the selector too high, is there an 'official' way of refitting, or just a trial and error job? Re: 1-2 gear change - Chris - 30-04-13 think it's a bit of trial and error to be honest. Chris Re: 1-2 gear change - gassitt - 30-04-13 line up the punch mark on the end of the shaft with the slot in the gear change arm Then use the rod adjuster to set it where you want it Simples Re: 1-2 gear change - riz - 30-04-13 Cheers gassitt, i took a 10mm spanner out with me for a small ride and kinda winged it, feels ok, but will look in the morning to get it right. ![]() Re: 1-2 gear change - darrsi - 30-04-13 If the lever's a bit high, you need to get a pair of these....... Re: 1-2 gear change - riz - 30-04-13 They look great and i would ask where you bought yours from but i'd worry if they came undone i'd get the laces in the chain. Re: 1-2 gear change - Chris - 30-04-13 :rollin :rollin :rollin Where can I get a pair of those beauts?? Chris |
