Re: NEW GOLD WHEELS - JayB - 17-10-12

Just phoned for a local quote and £30 - £50 a wheel, so not bad, quite why the range os so wide is beyond me, I guess an 8 spoke single sider off an NC30 would be harder to do than a 3 spoke.

Gonna go for it soon, just looking at replacement tyres and I guess, bearings need to be accounted for too.

CableTie will let you know about the cost of powder-coating. You do need to take the bearings out (or leave them in and replace with new when the wheels are returned).

The wheels was done by a powder coating company i use in burton upon Trent and i get things done for mates rates and sometimes FOC, they remove and refit the tyres for me as well and there completed in one day turn around all bearings need removing/replacing because they will be fecked after being in the oven.

Cost you would expect to pay from by another company ie someone local to you I think would be about £50 a wheel, however theres a company Ive used in the past based in derby and they used to charge me £30 a wheel " for solid colours" but there turn around was 1-2 weeks a bit too long.

OOOooo i'm not far from Burton-on-trent and may look to get my black wheels done over the winter, would look pretty nice in gold on a black FZ6s. Do they supply and fit the new bearings or if supplied they would fit etc.

Thanks,

Steve.

I've had a few bikes with gold wheels, i'm going to go for it too. I was meant to be not spending on this one, LOL, but I can't cope with corroded black anymore!
:lol

Why manufacturers choose horrible black or dreary dark blue, I do not know!! Bloody awful.

price?

Re: NEW GOLD WHEELS - MadDogMcQ - 18-10-12

What's wrong with light silver??

Re: NEW GOLD WHEELS - JayB - 18-10-12

Price - I think £40 - £50 a wheel seems to be ball park, tyres removed and plus new bearings while they're off.

Black is probably chosen so they don't look dirty when they are and being such a pain in the arse to clean.

Glad you mentioned that JayB coz I've been buying some "Allow Wheel Cleaning Tissues" from ALDI. They come in a large tubs and you pull each tissue out from the top (like baby-wipes. They are cheap and work AMAZINGLY well!! No matter how mucky or oily, a gentle wipe across the surface has it clean and shiny. Brilliant!

I find chain cleaner on a rag does a good job seeing as most of the grime on mine is from my chain / scott oiler Smile
