Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - JayB - 16-10-12 My Fazer has a standard 9x7" plate, most of my previous ones I have replaced for an 8x6" or 7x5" which don't really take the pi55 too much. Not got around to it on this yet, they are quite big bikes and I don;t think the standard size looks so out of place as it does on previous R1s, FireBlades etc. That said I will probably go and look for one now ![]() Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - Robbie8666 - 16-10-12 Just Googled road legal plates & found this: All motorcycles and tricycles must display a number plate at the rear of the vehicle. Motorcycles and tricycles registered before 1st September 2001 may display a number plate at the front of the vehicle but are not required to. If you have a two or three wheeled motorcycle or tricycle that has a body type of a four-wheeled vehicle, you MUST display a number plate at the front and back of the vehicle. Motorcycles registered on or after 1st September 2001 must display a two-line number plate. Motorcycles registered before 1st September 2001 may display a three-line number plate. One-line number plates are illegal, regardless of the date of registration. Here are the character sizes:

Character Height[/t][/t][/t]

64 mm

Character Width (except the figure 1 or letter I) 44 mm

Character stroke 10 mm

Space between characters 10 mm

Space between groups 30 mm

Top, bottom, and side margins (minimum) 11 mm

Space between vertical lines 13 mm

so i suppose you can work out that a box standard plate AB 12 ABC would have to be 9" x 5"

Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - chaparral02 - 19-10-12 My number plate compared to my mates..... :lol ![]() ![]() Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - fireblake - 23-10-12 (15-10-12, 06:39 PM)phillywilly link Wrote:
i think that number plate looks far better than the standard one , but couldnt stand all the pulls, where do you go to get one made ? surely all number plate makers have just standard sizes ?
I bought mine from a bike show, the seller did explain it was show only and not road legal. Mickey Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - DryRob - 23-10-12 If I remember rightly a shop in Hull called Steve's spares does them but I think they are advertised as show plates and it was a while ago when I was in there last. http://stevesmotorcyclespares.swankyweb.co.uk/ Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - DeeDub - 25-10-12 I have a black and silver 'show plate' on my black mk1 FZS600, it looks better than the standard legal one. :evil Not had a problem with it so far, never been pulled for it.................that is now the kiss of death no doubt. :'( Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - Robbie8666 - 26-10-12 (25-10-12, 04:54 PM)DeeDub link Wrote:I have a black and silver 'show plate' on my black mk1 FZS600, it looks better than the standard legal one. :evil now that looks smart! Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - JayB - 30-10-12 balding BT020 drew my eye more :rollin Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - DeeDub - 02-11-12 New rubber fitted front and rear after this particular trip back from the French Alps.....If I'd stuck sunglasses and a lollipop on it, it would have looked like Kojak :eek Re: any-one got a small number plate ? - JayB - 02-11-12 Ha ha, I'm very jealous, I wish I had the time and money and balls to get myself across the Channel and do some serious riding, I shamefully live 10 minutes from Dover and the port and about 15 from the Tunnel. A friend has previously done the touring thing with his family, Mum, brothers and a mate, all of them on Fazers, saw the pics recently, he's getting another bike in May, so I think we will be getting some trip or other sorted next year. ![]() |
