Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - mtread - 09-06-21 Quote: I was going to remind you it says 'No Politics', but BLM is a political movement isn't it, so I won't While busy picking the England cricket team, government has nothing at all to say about fans booing the England football team. One is news, the other obviously isn't. Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - YamFazFan - 10-06-21 . Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - YamFazFan - 10-06-21 . Just another Dead Cat to distract people from paying attention to the important stuff ![]() Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - YamFazFan - 10-06-21 . Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - YamFazFan - 10-06-21 . Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - Grahamm - 10-06-21 (10-06-21, 10:16 AM)YamFazFan link Wrote: Eh?. It was that ultra-woke BBC news presenter who set that one off when she took the mickey out of the Union Jack behind Robert Jenrick wasn't it?. Having flags behind you any time you're on TV is an American thing to show how "patriotic" someone is. Jenrick decided to "make a statement" and deservedly got the piss taken out of him. Of course the "anti-woke" brigade (nb "woke" is pretty much now a term only used by the political right to deride anyone who points out their hypocrisy, cf "cancel culture") immediately used this as an excuse to whip up a media frenzy over a trivial issue because, of course, that would distract people from the serious issues that are affecting this country that Jenrick and co are responsible for. So, whether or not it was a deliberate Dead Cat, it certainly became one because the Tories then decided to up the ante by declaring that *all* Government buildings should fly the Union Flag *every day*, something which has never been considered necessary before now. Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS! - agricola - 10-06-21 I'm really focced off with all the fuss over historical comments, suddnely dug up and brought to the fore. I'll wager theres not a manjack amongst us thats not made some sort of comment in the past that may now be considered to be offensive to/by any number of other sections of the community, be they multi gender/black/non white/left handed/gay/disabled/bmw audi drivers and on and on and on.
