Rode it to work and back...then decided I needed to start looking at addressing the paintwork scratches. So, This is the bike before it was washed after 300 odd miles :eek :

MANKY!

So I washed the bike with some strong TFR, and then went round the bike with IPA to remove any filling polish the dealer may have used to cover some uglies...looks like my bike has had some throwover panniers on at some point as the rear plastic was badly scuffed up Sad :

Same on the other side:

Looks like it may need paint to fully resolve the issue, or at the very least I may need to strip it off to get into it properly with the rotary polisher. For this season ill just hand polish it with a mild correction, filling polish and glaze it to take the bad look away, unless I get a lot of time to strip it and correct it properly. heres the result of two passes with some Autoglym SRP, followed by some meguiars #7 glaze (but before I applied CarPro HydrO2 for beading ability):

not perfect, but at least 60-70% improvement. I then went round the rest of the bike with this, to leave me with this:

pretty happy with that for now....it will do anyway Smile

Chris

cheers mate Smile

Its not perfect, but looks well given the couple of hours I spent on it. hopefully we get nice weather over this easter weekend so I can strip it down and correct it properly, rather than the sort of "band aid" filler method im using now.

Fitted the Scorpion Red power Serket Stainless Steel exhaust end can that's been on order for the past 3 or 4 weeks. Worth the wait though !!

Quality, I've got a red power on order as well for my gen 1. Looks well on the gen 2 Smile

I've just uploaded a video to youtube of before & after exhaust audio.  It should be ready to view soon, I'll try and post a link on here.

I agree but i was using my iphone so that's probably why. The sound is so much better than the stock can. Hoping to get out on it this aft to hear it 'in action!'

Fitted my radiator shrouds back on.

Not sure about them at the moment, I am thinking the bike is a pro bolt kit away from looking like a tarts handbag  :o

I'm guessing that's not the original tail piece

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 16-04-14

Some of the later models did have black tailpieces when the rest was coloured I think.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - bigbluebear - 16-04-14

looks a bit odd to me

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mickvp - 16-04-14

Yeah, it is original bbb, as Nick said, some late ones had a black rear end. I thought it was odd too, but I kinda like it now Smile

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - bigbluebear - 16-04-14

I suppose beauty is in the eye of the holder and all that!!!!!!

That's cleaned up quite good.....out of interest how did you get rid of the scratches on the plastics

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Dead Eye - 16-04-14

Mine is the same colour scheme - as mentioned, several of them had black rear tail ends as well as the black swingarm and frame Smile

Even shows it on the front of the Haynes manual for the Yellow version Tongue

Autoglym super resin polish mate. It won't have removed them all, but it does contain fillers to hide scratches as well for a while, until I can get time to use a proper correcting polish on it. The "glaze" I've used also helps mask scratches too, but doesn't actually fix anything.
