I wouldn't bank on it.

Whoever could have imagined that John Worboy's release was imminent?.

Not his many victims I should imagine.

Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - mtread - 08-02-18

Worboys' release won't happen. They'll prosecute on the extra charges they should have done first time round. If the CPS hadn't cocked it up.

Better to leave some charges on file so he can be charged at a later date. That's why they have charges taken into account before they are sentenced they can't later be charged with them.

The word " olympian"  when used as a prefix before a persons name because they have taken part in an Olympic games, don't know why but it just bugs the hell out of me.

Not grumpy but certain words bug me, like blogger, vlogger, activist etc. Seems like everybody these days needs a title before their names  to make them feel validated,  I don't put engineer before my name and I bet you don't put bricklayer before your name. What I do for a living does not make me who I am, my personality does.
Okay so I hold my hand up , I might be a bit grumpy sometimes Smile , so I should have as my title grumpy engineer.

Now there’s a thing that pisses me off.  All the folks who call themselves Engineers but are nothing of the sort.

I am an engineer, not an artist

Another one - the army and when ranks retire they are always referred to as "Colonel Mustard-retired"  "wing Commander Bird - retired"

I have no idea what you are Slappy, that is other than a little sensitive and maybe a wee bit paranoia.

How far down the ranks does that go. Are there any "Private Tommy Atkins-retired"?

I could be wrong. (often am!), but I thought it was that you had to have held a field rank i.e Major or above (or equivalent i.e Lt Commander / Sqn Ldr) if it was Captain RN that's equivalent to Colonel /Group Captain!

most of us rank & file just use Veteran!

Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - nick crisp - 15-02-18

How about, "Hedgetrimmer, RG500 rider (ret'd)?  Or, "Hedgetrimmer, Mini Metro killer (ret'd)? Or....jeez, come to think of it, I could have hundreds of titles. Most wouldn't be very complimentary though. Still, I'd be dumb enough to be proud of them  Big Grin

Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat" - red98 - 17-02-18

Whats gets my goat today ?    That old chessnut ........car insurance........gets my renewal quote of £269 which I know is cheap compared with a lot of you on here but iam an old foccer who dosnt do many cage miles , limited to 4000 per year....but why is it that when I phone them up to cancel so I can switch to a better deal they can suddenly reduce the premium to £200 ...why not offer that to me in the first place  :wall

happy with £200 though  Wink
