just bought a new toaster and the lead is barely long enough to get the toaster past the overhanging shelf. As it is, I cannot have the toaster controls facing me, the whole toaster has to be side on
which gobshite decides on short cables?

The government I think.
I believe it's a safety feature to stop the appliance being placed too close to a sink full of water and possibly tipping in when it's turned on.
The power sockets have to be a certain distance away and if the toaster has a titchy lead it can't reach the sink.

It's a shame the pot-hole filling budget isn't as flush as the grit/salt one.
The spreader's been past my house 4 times already tonight.
Even though most of that ended up in the front gardens the road is beginning to resemble Brighton Beach :rolleyes

Don't complain not seen a gritter or even grit laying on roads spread by the grit fairy in Market Harborough yet this winter. Still on the bright side the local car body repairers are doing a roaring trade.

TV is full of non descript wanabees non one has heard of off claining to be famous, former soap "stars" who left the series and never worked again (cos they cant act) trying to get back in the limelight, blokes trying to make a career out of the fact they are gay, folk we are supposed to empathise with cos theyve had trouble passing a stool. James Bulger killer Jon Venables getting yet another conviction for possessing child abuse images, and still his identity is protected. I would like to know how much he costs the tax payer a year to keep his identity protected. The sentence seems very lenient considering his previous convictions are the authorities going to wait till god forbid another child looses their life before he is locked up for life.

He is an adult now. These offenses took place as an adult so his name should be in the public domain. That said, his name was changed due to his earlier office when he was a child. The trouble is they cannot publish that name.
Time to send him down for life with no chance of parole. He has proven he cannot be trusted too often and as such does not deserve to go free.

How can they possibly release his name? The lynch mob would be on the streets straight away. He has committed this crime as an adult and he will get a sentance appropriate to an adult. Interesting that Robert Thompson has not put a foot wrong since.

Would be interesting if under the freedom of information act they would the release the figures of life sentenced prisoners released on parole that go on and commit further murders.

I may be wrong (I usually am) but I thought he got relocated to the prison colony and may have had an issue or two there. We will never know if he has put a foot wrong there as they don't know his background!!
