Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - tommyardin - 23-02-19 Well I am no longer a Fazer owner But,I still do own a Honda C90-G. OK so it holds no speed records but it does make me smile and has started a few conversations when I pull up on it. And as I am in the Mrs good books at the moment (Revamped the family bathroom) I purchased a Lifan large valve 125cc lump to go in the C90, the Lifan comes in kit form with carburettor, manifold, air filter, kickstarter and gear lever (Actually the original engine is 85cc) I will also play about with the front sprocket size, it is a 15 tooth on the bike at the moment, but the bike as standard pulls quite well, so with the added 40cc I will try a 2 tooth bigger cog on the front. The Max top speed is 53 mph with the 15 tooth sprocket on the 85cc lump, I been told that that model was geared for town work where a lower top speed but more grunt for getting away from junctions and lights is favourable. So with the extra power and slightly higher gearing I am hoping to see 60 or maybe 65mph, it will make it more viable as a coast ride for me. (45 mile round trip) I am informed that the engine fits straight in and all the drive train lines up, I have been told that the foot pegs require a little stretching as the Lifan lump is very slightly wider that the original, but I have access to mig so it should not be a problem. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Lifan-125cc-Big-Valve-4-Speed-Semi-Auto-Pit-Bike-Engine-Carb-BBR-Manifold/283087687855?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ogri48 - 24-02-19 fitted new discs to the honda..found some NOS on ebay.. Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - steve 10562cc - 24-02-19 Took my triumph speed four out and ragged it or tried to. I've got lazy riding the FZ1 1000CC 150bhp you don't need a quick left foot to keep it on the boil. A couple of hours stirring the little Triumphs gear box getting caught in the wrong gear a couple of times still getting the hang of it again, bit strange hearing it scream it's nuts off through to 14000 revs though. Had to nip out on the FZ1 for an hour or so to calm my shattered nerves.
Haha I did wonder at first too. I was thinking nitrous would be a bit OTT on the old Honda ? Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - coffee - 25-02-19 you learn summat EFD :lol Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ogri48 - 25-02-19 that bike don't need NOS its got more grunt than a rutting sperm whale... :lol Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - coffee - 01-03-19 Sold my belly pan on E/bay for £56 so I was chuffed for a while, then "brake wear" warning came on,on my old Merc, wasn't to bothered just thought I'll put pads on,about £15,turns out after a good look the discs are well focced,so there goes my belly pan dough,ah well such is life. :wall Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - steve 10562cc - 13-03-19 Fitted a pair of cnc mirror extenders to my Triumph Speed Four. 5 minute job and £8 for the extenders I can now see behind me not my shoulders, and the nice policeman trying to stop me to tell me I'm going a little to quickly for his liking. (yes I did stop and received a right royal bo**ocking words of advice but nothing else) Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - fazersharp - 13-03-19 (13-03-19, 07:41 AM)steve 10562cc link Wrote: Fitted a pair of cnc mirror extenders to my Triumph Speed Four. 5 minute job and £8 for the extenders I can now see behind me not my shoulders, and the nice policeman trying to stop me to tell me I'm going a little to quickly for his liking. Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ogri48 - 13-03-19 thing I miss about my gen 2 fz1 was that nice big digital speedo.. ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - steve 10562cc - 13-03-19 Got to ask ogri as you have owned both what's the gen1 got to make you swap back to the earlier model from a gen2 I like my gen2 great compromise between a sports bike and a sports tourer, but have never ridden a gen1 Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ogri48 - 14-03-19 It’s probably an age thing mate the fz1 is a lot sportier but the fazer thou is as everyone says a better all rounder and much more comfy fir the other half. If your anywhere near me your welcome to try mine dude Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - steve 10562cc - 14-03-19 Thanks ogri48 trying to hang on to being a sports bike rider the FZ1gen2 was the best compromise I could find, HWMBO will not ride pillion any more I acted the pr*t with her on the back she was not amused. Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - ogri48 - 14-03-19 lol. bear in mind I also love me cb1300 and old slow 1340 fatty steve, im probably not a good man to ask advice from ![]() Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - steve 10562cc - 15-03-19 I've got a Triumph Speed Four as well a naked 600 love the bike as different as chalk and cheese to the FZ1. I was just curious that's all Re: What did you do with whatever else you've got? - robbo - 24-03-19 What a great day to have been out on a bike today. Left home around 07:15, heated gloves cranked up to level 3, and after a quick petrol stop, gunned the old Trumpet over to Epsom Downs for the Pioneer Run, meeting up with 2 pals on the way. The first bikes were away at 8am. Sammy Miller looked as sprightly as ever. Henry Cole and his sidekick were also there, enjoying the occasion. Watched most of the entrants leave, then whizzed off to The Chalet for a quick coffee and a chat, the carpark was heaving. God knows how long people waited for their food order, the wait is bad enough on normal Sundays. Back on the bikes and over the South Downs, along Brighton seafront, and up to our favourite caff overlooking the marina. With bellies full, we headed west to Bognor to drop in on a pal for a chinwag. By now the traffic had really died down, so plenty of high jinx were the order of the late afternoon/evening, rolling on to the drive just over twelve hours after leaving. It'll be MOT time for the ST this week, hopefully she'll get a clean bill of health ready for her 25th birthday.
