Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - carlos - 06-03-14 replaced rear caliper pistons and seals seems ok ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Stradaman - 06-03-14 Lovely little 100 mile trip just to soak up the sun and enjoy the dry. Don't get much better ! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - theglove1978 - 06-03-14 Started it. Which thankfully after a bleak few months was successful. Bought some new oil, a filter and some rear brake pads. As the days are getting longer i can smell the hope of starting to use it again. Only passed test last year but passed late August so i missed most of Spring & Summer :'( Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mr self destruct - 07-03-14 (06-03-14, 07:10 PM)unfazed link Wrote:Check your font sprocket nut :eek Cheers for the advice, checked it when I got home and it's fine. Looks like it has been replaced for the 12mm thick (did I read somewhere that they were originally 9?) version. Turned out to be chain damage, so it's getting a new chain & sprocket today. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - kitcrazy - 07-03-14 Day off today gonna give her a wash and check over. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - noggythenog - 07-03-14 Finally got my crash bars on :woot :woot & decided im never fitting crash bars to a bike ever again ![]() 2 more night shifts, an oil and coolant change & i'm hopefully back on the road. 8) Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mr self destruct - 07-03-14 Got it back with a new chain and sprocket this afternoon, only to be told I have a rust hole in my nice rustproof stainless exhaust. That's another £200 I'll have to work a weekend for. :\ Nobody told me biking was gonna be this fucking expensive! :'( Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - esetest - 07-03-14 Rode the Fazer across town to the Royal Oak , to carry out remedial works , testing , & minor works certs , as the cage is still in the garage . Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - unfazed - 07-03-14 Took the Thou for a spin after finishing changing the original rear shock for a 2012/13 model s1000rr rear shock. What difference, no more wallowing through the high speed bends. ![]() It raised the rear by 10mm and with the forks up through the yolks by 10mm. Turns in nice and quick, more like the 600 ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - NorthWestern - 07-03-14 Spot on those bmw shocks. Really good units and cheap as chips £50 Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - unfazed - 07-03-14 The price of the later 2012/13 ones are rising as people are realising how good they are. :'( It cost me £100 including postage and tax from the good old USA, I could not get 2012/13 ones on Ebay UK. Foccing postage and tax was the same price as the shock. :eek The cover on the shaft is a great idea. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - NorthWestern - 07-03-14 yeah I had the option of getting two, each for £50 which at the time was the going rate for em - these had no miles on em and 2013 model. Seems like they have risen a bit... Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Andy FZS - 07-03-14 Cleaned the bits I took off, cleaned the engine and frame, refitted the bits then took I short ride to tesco for fuel. God those fairing infill bit make right row I'm going to have to do something about those. So glad you finally got them sorted! I saw mine in the sunlight for the first time today. My paintjob really is AWFUL!! Still, this is England. Won't happen that much!! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - apage16 - 07-03-14 Took my silly handguards off, cleaned off all the crap, sorted out the leaking Tutoro chain oiler, fixed the wobbling mirrors, changed the oil filter to a K&N with 'wrench nut' (very handy!) And went for a spin in the sun! Feels like spring is on the way! [/quote] cheers Andy, join the club my paint work is well dodgy too ![]() i had to start off with the upper small bolts as otherwise they wouldnt line up but apart from that it wasnt too bad. i rounded off one of the allen bolts though, got it half out now but i'll need another one, dont suppose you have any more lying about do you?...or do you know the size? Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - apage16 - 08-03-14 It's a stainless M8 Button head. The original bolt was 40mm, but I trimmed it to length for you. (What service!) That's the tradeoff of stainless. It's always very slightly softer than the zinc coated, hardened equivalent. None left though, I'm afraid. If I did, you'd be more than welcome, but I only bought the exact amount!! Skinflint/efficient? You decide! Thanks again for all the offers of help, i got there in the end & if the bike ever meets the ground again i'll be glad of it all. 8) 8) Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - apage16 - 08-03-14 No trouble. quick tip, (that the bike shop won't like), Stainless bolts are normally WAY cheaper from hardware stores than bike shops. Get these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/socket-button-screws-a2-stainless-steel-m8-x-25mm-pack-of-50/57762 Then sell the leftovers for a 50p each on eBay! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - noggythenog - 08-03-14 Tidy, time for a visit to screwfix :thumbup |
