New shoes! - Ergzzz - 23-02-19

Hi all,

I find myself needing a new pair of tyres after only around 6000 miles, pretty pissed off! they are the BT016 and i have been doing a fair bit of motorway travelling the last thousand miles or so.

I was wondering if any of you lovely foccers had any advice on which tyres to go for next. Something with a hard middle compound and soft sides for all the cornering i so love to do.

I hear Michelin tyres are a good recomendation???

Ta xx

Angel st are damn good. My wingman has run em on a tuono factory that he rides pretty quickly on the road. Good wear and excellent grip all year round.

And 6k for a rear sporty tyre is pretty respectable if you ask me!

Re: New shoes! - celticbiker - 23-02-19

Michelin pilot road 4 are a good all rounder but if it's corners you live for the pilot power 3 are streets ahead of anything else out there.

Had t30 evo and angel st on my mt09. T30 were decent but shedded to bits and I only got 1800 ish miles out the rear. St were very sticky in wet and decent mileage. Just got my fzs1000 and they have a set of nearly new angel gt on. These are fantastic also. Been raping it in these greasy conditions last couple of weeks and I cannot fault them. I will be going angel gt next time as well

Re: New shoes! - stevierst - 23-02-19

Yep, I’ll be getting a set of Angels on the thou next.

Whatever you do, do not get Avon Storm XD on a thou, they’re not very well suited to the big bike! They work well on others, but didn’t work well for me on the big Fazer

Re: New shoes! - celticbiker - 23-02-19

Storm 3D xm were awful on the 800 too.

Re: New shoes! - ogri48 - 24-02-19

ditto my cb1300..

Michelin PR3s are a good match for the FZS600. They’re lighter, which means the steering feels different if you’re used to Bridgestones.
There is anecdotal evidence that the Michelins are more prone to punctures as the kevlar cords are not as good at deflecting nails.

I only get 3000 out of my 016s but I would t use anything else. At £140 a pair I still think they are good value, utterly superb tyre in all conditions

Re: New shoes! - Dynspud - 14-03-19

From the 150 miles or so I've done on my first pair of BT 016's, I have to agree with Ogri.
Best tyres I've ridden on Paul, cheers for the tip  Big Grin

Re: New shoes! - Dynspud - 17-03-19

I had PR4s for the last two sets of boots but changed to BT016s on Ogri's advice.
PR4s were a great tyre, long lasting and good in the wet, but I hardly ever ride in the wet and the 016s are in a different class regarding grip & feel.
But they would be I guess as they are a sport tyre.

If I take up more serious touring in the future I would be happy to go back to PR4s but, for now, 016s give more fun  Big Grin

Re: New shoes! - fazersharp - 17-03-19

I went for a set of Metzeler M7 RR last year but are not touring long lasting tyres but I don't do a lot of miles per year or commute.

Re: New shoes! - UG - 17-03-19

BT45's

Re: New shoes! - mtread - 18-03-19

Another vote for Michelin PRs, especially if you're doing motorways. You should double or treble the mileage.
Your profile doesn't show which Fazer you've got, but if it's a FZS600, the PR4 doesn't come in the front tyre size, but the PR3 does. Mixing PR3 front and PR4 back works well.

Re: New shoes! - glennc - 19-03-19

Had some PRs fitted a couple of weeks ago, they seem to suit the bike really well compared to the dunlops i had on before.

Re: New shoes! - Dudeofrude - 31-03-19

I need a new pirelli for the rear of my Fz1
Which is better for face paced, Short trips in all weather riding? the Angel ST or GT?
