Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 14-11-16 Dunno why they changed the lights so you only get one dipped beam on a later fazer, guess it's EU regs or summat. Anyhow, I'm old and blind, my evening commute from Bristol to the heart of the Forest of Dean is quite terrifying in the dark, even more so when it's raining. Do they do brighter bulbs nowadays that don't burn hot and need updated fuses like the old 100 w halogens? I don't want the arse ache or cost of HID... ![]() Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - nick crisp - 14-11-16 Dunno, but thanks for warning us when and where to avoid so we don't get taken out by the old, blind Fazer 1000 rider :lol Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - unfazed - 14-11-16 :lol :lol Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - unfazed - 14-11-16 Philips Xtreme or Osram Night Breakers are a good substitute with same fitting and wattage Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 14-11-16 Who are you people and what are you doing In my house... ![]() Cheers mate I'll give em a try.. Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - VNA - 14-11-16 Yup Phillips Extreme - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-12342XV-S2-Headlight-Twin-Pack/dp/B00NMEEOV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479154339&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+h4+x-treme+vision+130 Worthwhile improvement. Osram should be good too. Wouldn't bother with anything else. My 2004 both lamps work together, (2xH4) didn't ken they later dropped it to one for drip. Shouldn't be a difficult mod to fix. Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 14-11-16 cheers dude, appreciated Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - PaulSmith - 15-11-16 Have a look at LED bulbs. I used these (on a different bike) with good results: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01C8DKIPI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - ogri48 - 15-11-16 Intriguing mate... Are they saying you need to buy "outside error free resistors" or that they don't need anything else to work ? Are they saying you need to buy "outside error free resistors" or that they don't need anything else to work ?The bulbs I linked to do not have a CANBUS, so can not be used on a bike with CANBUS unless you get a CANBUS eliminator. The Fazer couldn't even spell CANBUS so it really isn't a problem. Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - PaulSmith - 28-11-16 [Sniff, sniif.] Poh, I smell a pong! Sort of a bovine scatology to it... It took me less than 5 minutes to find out what the law actually said. The EU regs are all on-line as the always have been and the ones that matter here Directive 2009/67/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 on the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices on two or three-wheel motor vehicles: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32009L0067 Specifically, section 6.2.1 Quote:B1k3rtwit is wrong about the wiring being the same, but is right that the wiring change would be easy, however, you might be slightly disappointed putting a hi/lo beam bulb into a high beam reflector and expecting a lo beam result. An odd mistake to make for someone who knows beam patters so well... Quote:The issue is pretty much all HID kits dont have the correct beam pattern for the H4 hi/lo based head light units.Fortunatly, all H4-3 HID kits do have the correct beam pattern for H4 hi/lo based head light units. Quote: The market sorley needs a LED replacement fore the H4 bulb/fitting.That would be something like this then? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01C8DKIPI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - Fazafou - 28-11-16 I went down the LED 'driving lights' alternative too. Fitted 2 x 20W spot lights inside the fairing wired off a switched relay with a button fixed under the horn switch. They are dipped enough not to dazzle people, but provide a huge amount of additional light for country roads. When these are on with the main beams it's really impressive. Replaced the bulbs with xenons, much better Re: Updating lights 04 fazer thou - slimwilly - 29-11-16 glad you sorted it out,,you pulled some monkeys out of the trees with their answers .lol by the way,, have you seen any bears in the forest yet,,or should you not ask, ?
