rear shock - Lank - 03-10-14
ok my rear shock has given up, there is sod all rebound
I dont have the money for the R6 shock upgrade which I believe is around £250. I only have about £100 so are there any options for this budget or am I to wait till I can afford better?

Stock shocks can be had for £50 ish, so had a look on ebay and found one going for £30 atm.

The other option if you are able to have the bike of the road for a bit is to get your shock rebuilt -

I have just fitted a S1000RR shock to mine. I have the stock shock from my 2004 bike, it has only done 5000 miles from new. You can have that for 50 quid plus P&P or collect from Maidstone if easier.

i also fitted a s1000rr rear shock to mine and i picked it up handy off ebay from germany for 100 euro delivered cant beat that for value ,makes a great difference too :faz

Thanks for the advice and offer. I won the other shock with 10k on it and am no awaiting delivery.
Hopefully will upgrade to the R6 shock early next year.

mine runs a standard unit rebuilt with a ktech spring
i am going to change it for a bmw unit
i can vouch for downeys rear as he was on my tail on roads he did not know

I have just bought a BMW shock ready to fit. Mine is the model with the silver fork at the bottom 2012 year.
Will this shock alter the ride height and if so what dogbones will I need as I wish to keep the height standard?

It will rise the rear by about 10mm at the most, but it improves the turn in and you could make up for the rise by raising the forks through the yolks by 5 to 8mm. This makes the turn in even faster and may not be to everyone liking. Try it standard first and see before you go changes dog bones
I dropped the front of mine by 10mm and it is as quick as the 600 to turn in now, but I started standard then 5 and settled at 10mm.

The increase in dog bone length will lower the rear and because of the increased leverage with the longer bones it will effectively soften the rear.
Ratio is about 1 to 2.5 as far as I know (someone might correct me on this) 1mm longer will lower rear by 2.5mm.
