McIvanising (Scotland Ivanising) - mickvp - 20-04-14

Good evening Foccers!

Ive been talking to Mike (Falcon269) about the possibility of him coming over to Scotland to Ivanise some of our bikes. For anyone who doesnt know, Mike has fitted literally hundreds of these kits, so your bike is in very safe hands.

There are no dates or location fixed at present (UPDATE 27/04/2014 preferred dates for Mike would be Friday 26 Sep to Sunday 28 Sep inclusive), this is simply a thread to gauge how many, if any foccers would be up for getting it done (or making the trip to Glasgow/Edinburgh to have it done). Mike really needs a minimum of 6 people before the trip becomes worthwhile to him, more if possible.

There are two types of Ivans kit available. a "slip-on" kit, which is £195 supplied and fitted;

And a "full monty" kit, which is £295 supplied and fitted (you MUST HAVE a free flowing aftermarket can for this option!).

You can find some more info here: http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/fz1.htm

Mike is now back from holiday, so he will be able to answer any questions... In the meantime, if getting your bike Ivanised later in the year is something you want to have done - add your name to a list below.

1) mickvp - full monty
2) stu1318 - full monty
3) bigbluebear - full monty
4) Davieg47 - full monty

Whats the difference between the 2 options??

Im not sure, and Im awaiting Mike sending me more details about the differences upon his return (unless anyone else knows?). I believe the "slip on" kit is simply the carb needles etc, whereas the full monty involved other work besides that? The full monty kit certainly also includes an air filter too in that price.

Re: Scotland Ivanising - nickodemon - 20-04-14

The full monty requires air box modifications and the carb rubbers need to be dremeled to make them bigger. I have owned a full monty and one with the slip on kit and it's a no brainer. Full monty every time

Re: Scotland Ivanising - bigbluebear - 20-04-14

I've been contemplating changing my slip on version to go full monty.......but still wondering if it's really noticeable and worth it

It's noticeable if you use the upper regions of the rev band regularly ... it's a gain of 5 - 6bhp over the Slip-On installation.  Also, the motor picks up revs quicker from about 5 - 6k rpm and up.

As for worth it, that depends on you.  It takes me almost as long to do an upgrade to Full Monty as doing one from scratch.  A new jet kit is required along with the air filter, too, so there's not much price difference.

For those wondering which option to choose from the outset, it's a personal choice based on how you ride etc but I advise against going for Slip-On first thinking to upgrade later.

To give an idea of the gains from each option, here's a thread on a Full Monty-configured Gen 1:

Contrast this with Ivan's dyno charts including the ones showing the Slip-On kit with aftermarket end can (third graph from the top):

put me down for the full monty

Re: Scotland Ivanising - Falcon 269 - 22-04-14

Any aftermarket can will work but preferably not a shorty type.  Shorter cans tend to produce less torque low-mid range, although they can give a small gain at peak rpm over a normal length can.

If you leave the removable baffle in place, expect to be a few bhp down on the unrestricted can.

I know mate - we need all these tight scottish foccers to dig deep! only need a minimum of 3 more for the green light - room for more besides that of course.

Must be some others in scotland/borders/willing to travel wanting their bikes transformed??

Ok Davie, I'll stick you down (no dates arranged yet, I'm sure we can work round that easily enough though anyway Smile).
