FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - trotsky - 24-03-13 Hi, could anyone tell me from their experience if the bike from this advert is worth considering and buying? Could you also share your opinion what to check if I go to see the Fazers? Are there any specific things to check and how to check the for the unexperienced bike rider? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZS-600-2003-1-OWNER-/150987402872?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item23278cee78 Thanks for any help in advance and I will appreciate it even more for the quick answers as its a bit urgent Best Trotsky Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - unfazed - 24-03-13 Any one owner from new bike is always worth considering. This looks good and has some useful extras. The condidion from the photographs appears to reflect the low mileage, no flaking paint on the engine (looks original) and very little rust. Check the wear on the tyres and any rattles from the engine on startup, but. since you are buying from a garage it gives you a bit of a safety margin. Looks like the original rear shock, ask if it is and also and if the front sprocket nut has been changed to the modified one. Good Luck Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - trotsky - 24-03-13 Hi Unfazed, Thanks for your help. Will keep it in mind. If you think abouyt anything else that I should keep in mind please let me know. What my reaction should be to changed Rear shock and to the modified sprocket nut? Sorry if it sound stupid but I am new to bikes :o best Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - mtread - 24-03-13 Looks very good, and at a reasonable price for a clean foxeye. I've got one same colour same year, also one owner from new, but mine's done 36K without any problems. New downpipes and scottoiler are good signs. Looks like it's been well looked after. Agree with what's been said about the rear shock. Mine was like a pogo stick at 24K, so if it's the original it won't last much longer. Agree with what's said about rattles, but they aften rattle a bit before the camchain tensioner clicks over, then it goes. Looks a good one. Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - trotsky - 24-03-13 Hi mtread, Thanks. So if the rear shock is original it will need replacing sooner rather then later?! Am I correct? If so how expensive it is? Thanks for all the help. Best T. Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - unfazed - 25-03-13 A new rear shock could set you back around £300 from Hagon but may be cheaper ones available, good barganing point if it is original and 20000 miles is about the life of them. The front sprocket nut can loosen and fall off, Yamaha brought out a new thicker nut to solve the issue. Easily checked with a torch looking in along the line of the chain, it should be flush with the end of the Shaft whereas with the original one the shaft sticks out, outside the nut. I have exactly the same model with over 70000 miles on it and it has done everything from track days to two up touring in Ireland, England, Wales, France and Spain ![]() Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - mtread - 25-03-13 Yep, I agree with unfazed, 20K is about it for the original shock and a good bargaining point. I got a Hagon and no complaints. Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - bwizz - 25-03-13 my 600 started to pogo at around 26000 ,but my inlaws is ok at 25000. the thou's are more prone to rear shock's, Also check the fairing infills fit properly , sign of previous damage. also check the rear disk for mico cracks around the cooling holes, can be a real pain to change the disk, good bikes though ! Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - trotsky - 25-03-13 Hi All, could the below be trusted? I've done check on VOSA and the below came back. Thanks to all for the handy advices and i will try to make a good use of them. Would you mind if I ask few (or quite few) questions about Fazer in the future? You will get more replies Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - trotsky - 25-03-13 Thanks Unfazed, Could that be moved into FZS600 section? Apologies for this Best T. Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - unfazed - 26-03-13 Just sent Farjo (administrator) a message on same Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - Arfa - 26-03-13 Looks decent. Obviously you're paying a spot more as it's a dealer. I recently picked up a same year fzs600 with only 13K on it, with blue screen, hugger, belly pan, spotless, with original pipes etc. £1800. Didn't have top box, but chap threw in panniers, tank bag and spare can. Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - Exupnut - 27-03-13 Did u get the bike trotsky as the ebay listing has ended ? Re: FZS 600 Is this one worth buying? - inditime - 28-03-13 Looks like a good bike. I picked mine up from a dealer, 3 months warranty and only 14k on it for a MY2000. The MOT history is similar to mine, mine was used for the first few years and then had about 150 miles a year put on it. Mine is immaculate as well, but i think ill check that small sprocket nut issue. I wont tell you how much i paid for it for fear of upsetting trotsky :'( |
