Bike cam Video - alexanderfitu - 21-03-13

Hi all

I think a couple of people requsted an example video from my bike after I had the cameras fitted.

I am still sorting out teething issues (waterproofing mainly), but I have an example video (turn the sound down!):

Re: Bike cam Video - slappy - 21-03-13

Where do you have your camera mounted? Is it on the handlebars between the clamps?

Re: Bike cam Video - alexanderfitu - 21-03-13

Its mounted underneath the headlights on the front fairing.

There is also one on the back undernath my top box, but it was pointing into the sky, so no video for that one Smile

Re: Bike cam Video - sure2ride - 21-03-13

Really clear film on that. I quite fancy one myself to remind me of nice rides in my old age. What type is it, was it easy to fit?

What, in case of UFO's :lol

Re: Bike cam Video - alexanderfitu - 21-03-13

Its not too bad.

Fitment is easy, it comes with the bracket, just a screw through the fairing, and the camera clamps into it.

If you search Ebay for ACT20, its the 720p version.

Done and done!

I will have many many videos of my commute! Does that count? Smile

Re: Bike cam Video - sadlonelygit - 21-03-13

you're getting electrical interferance on that. looks like the picture is rolling a bit. that's a problem with the cheap chinese stuff.
an example:
http://youtu.be/I11l7V1XPvo
at 08:44:24 you see the screen flicker just turning on the ignition, then it's obvious when the bike starts. fitting it inside my lid got rid of any interferance.

Re: Bike cam Video - alexanderfitu - 21-03-13

Its mechanical interference.

Because the camera has a cmos sensor, if you vibrate the camera body at the multiple of the recording framerate, you get this waveyness. I suspect if I rubber mounted it then the wavey ness would go away.

Mounting it on your lid solves this becuase it doesnt vibrate like the bike does Smile. To be fair though it doesnt bother me, the cameras are mainly for proving right and wrong in an accident.

Re: Bike cam Video - chilly - 21-03-13

overtaking on zig zags. thats naughty

Re: Bike cam Video - alexanderfitu - 21-03-13

Ahem...

Quote:Highway Code Paragraph 165

You MUST NOT overtake

*    if you would have to cross or straddle double white lines with a solid line nearest to you (but see Rule 129)

*    if you would have to enter an area designed to divide traffic, if it is surrounded by a solid white line

*    the nearest vehicle to a pedestrian crossing, especially when it has stopped to let pedestrians cross

*    if you would have to enter a lane reserved for buses, trams or cycles during its hours of operation

*    after a ‘No Overtaking’ sign and until you pass a sign cancelling the restriction.

  Laws RTA 1988 sect 36, TSRGD regs 10, 22, 23 & 24, ZPPPCRGD reg 24

Just saying...

I know. You can't write sarcasm on the
Net!

So your saying that you never filter to the front of queues

Re: Bike cam Video - chaz - 22-03-13

I was talking to a guy who had bike cams, he said he put a bit of tape over mic. hole to cut down wind noise, when going fast.

No, I'm saying (or the Highway Code is saying) that it's illegal to filter past the vehicle closest to a pedestrian crossing.
