I hope I've left the mortal plain long before that becomes a reality ![]() Re: Nightshift - simonm - 16-03-13 As an aside can someone tell the weather to sort itself out? Snow last weekend, peeing it down with rain today.. I wanna get some miles down. Re: Nightshift - ponkster - 16-03-13 You not alone Chris - I'm on day 6 of 7 providing 24 hour cover for fire investigation in the North East of Scotland - our shift pattern is changing soon and it can't come soon enough - 7 days is too long on 24 ! Re: Nightshift - Chris - 16-03-13 7 days is nuts man! Think the most i've done was 4 in a row. Know people, friend that's a nurse, that regularly used to do 10+ nights in a row... Crazy... Anyway, off to bed now! Night all, Chris Re: Nightshift - Farjo - 16-03-13 Always a good feeling walking out when everyone else is going in to a day's work ![]() Re: Nightshift - stevierst - 16-03-13 (16-03-13, 09:26 AM)Farjo link Wrote: Always a good feeling walking out when everyone else is going in to a day's workI know this one well. 12 hour day/night shifts atm. Its good watching them go to work when I'm going home, but 1/2 the time I can't remember the 20 mile journey home I'm that knackered, and that's quite scary on the bike!! Ye, it is a bit scary when you get home and think... How did I get here, I can remember leaving work and arriving at home but nothing in between... That's the main reason I always take my car to work the other reason being my blueflame exhaust might be a bit loud for the old people at half 7 in the morning right outside their windows. haha. It is a great feeling when the morning staff come into the unit around 20 - 25 past 7 but from 6 until they arrive is the longest hour and a bit of my life. haha. Still that's usually when some of our residents want to get up so keeps me busy for that last hour. Re: Nightshift - mtread - 16-03-13 Chris - what's it like riding a bike on Shetland - no traffic jams I guess ? Been watching 'Shetland' the programme on TV. Roads look interesting ! No trees to get in the way either ? Mark Re: Nightshift - Chris - 16-03-13 Hey, Shetland is a beuatiful place to ride a bike or indeed to live 8) What did you think of the program? It showed mostly single track raods but generally that isn't what Shetland roads are like. There are a few lovely stretches of tarmac up here, lovely sweeping bends etc. No traffic to speak of really, You do have to be carefull of sheep as sometimes they can get out of their fields in some of the more rural areas but not something you usually have to worry about. You should come and visit shetland sometime. As you say very little amount of trees which means that the beautiful views aren't blocked by anything. 8) Chris |
