Dog wee - Fuzzy - 06-03-13

I chain my bike to a ground anchor in a mc bay. The problem is, usually at least a couple of times a week somebody is letting their dog piss all over the chain and lock... which means it's a really unpleasant business unlocking my bike. It really really annoys me and unfortunately I've never caught them in the act. Happens on a regular basis. >: The only consolation is that there haven't been any solids as yet so it could be worse!

Don't really want to move my bike, can't move the chain or lock because of the ground anchor..... any suggestions about what to do? Any tricks? I was thinking that there could be an "anti-dog" product that I could put on the lock but I don't know if that sort of thing exists...

ah yes...an anti dog product.........link your bike up to a 240v power supply.lamp post might do the trick  Wink  little bastid wont do that again  :lol :lol

Re: Dog wee - andybesy - 06-03-13

I don't think they like the smell of lemon (or citrus on general). Or is that just cats? Maybe a bottle of lemon juice sprayed all over the place?

Re: Dog wee - richfzs - 06-03-13

You'll have to give your chain etc, and the anchor, a good clean as well - the little beasts are marking their presence, if it smells of another dog, they'll keep using the area.

+1 to this Big Grin

Though potentially something could be rigged up on-board - using 12V instead to reduce the lethality to passers by?

Re: Dog wee - JKay - 06-03-13

They hate getting a good nostril full of white pepper with a trace of chilli pepper  :evil

Easy on the chilli though or they will shit themselves

Re: Dog wee - bigbluebear - 06-03-13

Probably best to hang around and pour a bottle of freshly prepared piss all over the dog owner when you catch them....then set both of them on fire for being found guilty of serious Fazer abuse :evil

Re: Dog wee - Looney tune - 06-03-13

We use lemon on any bitches that are in season (rub it on there bits) to keep the males away.
White vinegar would probably do the job once a week or if you want a professional product go onto Amazon and search 'get off' or 'get off my garden', both very good at there job.

Good luck

Re: Dog wee - slimwilly - 06-03-13

Easy, just tie a Lion to your bike, :evil

Re: Dog wee - goldfazer - 06-03-13

You've not got a Fazer thou have you? :lol

Re: Dog wee - Fuzzy - 06-03-13

Haha! Lots of good suggestions, cheers.

Electric shock treatment is tempting but I'll inevitably forget and fry myself at some point. Forgot about a disk lock once and that was painful enough.

Rub lemon juice on their bits? Sounds... stingy. Thanks for the link to the "get off" stuff.

I think I'll give the chain a good wash (has one of those fabric covers aswell... groan) and get squeezing with the lemons.... if that fails.... well, I might try some of the other suggestions!

This is all on the assumption it's a dog doing it... having met some  of the residents round here, it might well be human. Hadn't thought about that lol

yeah go for the pepper, dogs have a good sniff before they piss on anything.

Are you sure its dog wee?  May be cat or fox?

Re: Dog wee - JoeRock - 07-03-13

If you find the dog responsible take a piss on his chain, see how he likes it  :lol

Aye cos its totally the dogs fault.

How about bleach to the whole area and equipment. Then a light covering of pepper or chilli so they dont get any ideas

I wondered why my misses has been rubbing lemon on her bits  Wink

Re: Dog wee - robby boy - 08-03-13

Maybe try putting a sign on the bike stating how very angry you are that said dog owner letting his dog piss on your chain, they might not be aware that their actions are so offensive, maybe even mention if you catch said dog you are going to rub his nose then the owners nose in said piss.

LOL, then said owner waits on you as he is 6'8" and owns a rotty  :eek . Then again it could be a pretty little thing with a poodle, maybe you could ask her to wash your link  :b .

Use renardine if it's a fox, they hate it. Don't put it on the chain tho, just round the area.

Dog wee - Exupnut - 08-03-13

I thought renardine was banned and u cant buy it anymore.
