Scottoiler Potential Discount? - UPDATE 11/03/2014
Posted by: JoeRock - 10-03-14, 07:18 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Would anyone perhaps be interested in a group buy for scottoilers? it's something I've done a couple of times on another forum and generally works out pretty well, sellers are quite often happy to give a 10-20% discount if you can get a group of people together to buy a product?
Comment on here if you would be interested and I'll send a few emails out if there seems to be some interest?

EDIT:
Seller I approached has expressed interest, have so far got his rates at
3-5 = 5%, 6-10 = 10% 11+ = 15%
Which at his prices work out as
Scottoiler V-System (with free dual injector thrown in)
RRP: £89.95
3-5: £79 posted, 6-10: £75 posted 11+: £72 posted

Scottoiler Touring System
RRP: £125
3-5: £103 posted, 6-10: £97 posted, 11= £93

Might be able to knock him down a bit more if we pay outside eBay and don't have to pay final value fees, will be checking tomorrow!

  Oil warning light
Posted by: HarryHornby - 10-03-14, 06:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

I decided to take the bike to work today, on the way home, doing about 70 up the A2 the red oil warning light came on!  :eek

I pulled over, didn't really know what to check, because obviously with the engine hot, no oil was going to show in the window anyway.  I turned the bike off, left it a couple of minutes, restarted it and rode slowly home.

When I got the bike the other week I did check the oil and it was ok.  The chap who sold it said he had replaced the filter and oil.

There are no signs of major oil loss, no big puddle wherever I park the bike so if the bike has dumped it's oil I can't see where.

Can the oil light mean anything else other than "you have no oil left"?

Once the bike cools down this evening I'll have a look at the guage but I can't see where I've lost an engine full of oil.

Cheers in advance.

Forgot to say, when I got home I couldn't select neutral, it kept going from 1 to 2.  I turned off the engine and it went straight into neutral, no probs..... is this connected?

  Power!
Posted by: redthunder - 10-03-14, 06:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

I've been toying with the idea of picking up some LED strip lighting like this for a couple of things around the house, and then the thought crossed my mind about putting it near the bike  :eek

My first thought was to run it around the inside of my belly pan to give it a bit of a white back lit appearance.

Chances are it could look cack so I don't want to invest too much effort or money into it, with that being said how would something like this best be powered off the bike?

I've no accessories or anything wired to the bike in any way so I've what should be a stock battery/wiring situation to work with.

Thanks for the help!

  Sunday 16th march
Posted by: dazza - 10-03-14, 04:31 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (66)

Hello Foccer's, am meeting up with Harry Hornby this Sunday for a little ride out. Am thinking A20 Maidstone towards Ashford, peeling off at the A252 towards Canterbury then maybe back through Ashford to Tenterden and following the twisties down to Rye. All subject to weather, so is anybody else up for a run out. Could do with a few hooligans tagging along so am thinking Kitcrazy and Exupnut. Would be nice to have Midden come along but he's developed a habbit of foccing off on his own.  :lol

  Chains & Ground Anchors
Posted by: cfoley - 10-03-14, 04:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Ride magazine recently had a review of chains and ground anchors. The long and short is, all are susceptible to mechanical attack but the noise and time taken to break the best ones might put thieves off.

My girlfriend and I have three bikes between us, all locked in a garage. I am wondering if it is worthwhile bothering with chains and ground anchors. My girlfriend reckons that a thief who couldn't steal the bikes would probably kick them over out of spite anyway. Of course, you'd still have the [damaged] bikes in that scenario.

What other practical security could I be thinking about?

  White flakes?
Posted by: thunderpantz - 10-03-14, 02:55 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

On the front of the engine block, what can only be described as 'white powery flakes' have started appearing. These just wipe off with a rag, but is annoying.  Any idea what it could be?

My initial thought was a pinhole leak in the back of the rad and the coolant drying on the block??
