  Seeds of an idea....
Posted by: nick crisp - 16-03-14, 10:48 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

Well, not even done my first Euro tour yet, not til July in fact. But already another idea has  :think

I'm currently reading a book about the Plantagenet kings of England (history gets more and more fascinating as I get older  :rolleyes ), and it occurred to me I'd like to do a tour of castles in France. Now I've seen and photographed many in the UK, they're always a strong draw for me; I find them absolutely spell-binding, and very photogenic being often set in picturesque or even stunning scenery.

And it occurred to me that it might be possible to combine it with some of the best roads that France has to offer too. I'm thinking mostly Normandy, Brittany and what used to be Aquitaine, (all areas that were once ruled by men who also held the position of kings of England, though some had to swear fealty to the French kings for those continental possessions), mostly northern France.

So what do you think of this idea? Hare-brained? Good? Have I lost my last marble finally? Or has anyone done something similar?

It won't be this year, maybe next if I can work out a feasible plan. And to put it (kind of) to the test, I'm also thinking of seeing how many Welsh castles I can visit in, say, one weekend - sounds like a fun challenge to me!

What, the strait-jacket again?! No, it's just an idea, I don't like the padded rooooooooooooooom..........................................................................

Ace ride-out today with some mates, ended on an AA truck with a broken chain for the last 5 miles home. Bugger!!!
Took out the water pump, double bugger!!!!!! Anyone got one going cheap near Leeds and recommendations for chain and sprocket kits
as there seems to be loads of options.

Hello Foccer's, can someone tell me how you put words in between pictures, can't seem to work out how to separate photos with individual descriptions and also how do you put a line through a word ? Does this even make sense to anyone or is there no hope for this technophobe?. :o

I know I've asked this before but I can't find the thread but..... why is it so difficult to put photos on here. Whilst not drawing parallels, on the YOC I can just upload from my laptop with no bother at all. I seem to recall from previous questions that I have to have a remote access site or something weird sounding?  :useless :wall

  Foccers near Middlesborough, help please!
Posted by: ChristoT - 16-03-14, 07:17 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

I need a hand from any Foccers near Middlesborough, Cleveland. I want to  buy this swingarm for Project Fazer:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...TQ:GB:1123

The seller says there's a better deal available with cash on collection. Could a Foccer please retrieve it for me?

Many thanks!

  Clutch problems
Posted by: Dan.C. - 16-03-14, 07:12 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

Hello all!
My problem:
I bought an accidented bike with no clutch lever. After all the painting and rebuild, the bike is almost ready. Now comes the fun part. I put the new lever, start the bike on the center stand and when I try to squeze the clutch lever I have to apply a lot of force.
I opened the clutch cover, the friction plates were a bit stuck, I cleaned them, perform a oil change, but nothing, can't squeeze the lever. I have 2 options when adjusting from the lever nut or clutch cover nut, ON and OFF. Big Grin  Eighter is too loose and nothing happend when I squeeze the lever, eighter is verry tight and again, almost nothing happens when I hardly squeeze it, except a little friction sound coming from the clutch cover. Eighter way,
If I try to press the metal rod (the one marked with red) with my hand I can't. The problem starts from it, how much force is normal to be used to push it?
I can't use the clutch. Any ideas?

  no nuts
Posted by: stevie-g1968 - 16-03-14, 06:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

yep, its happened to me...no sprocket nut!
took the cover off just to check as ive only had the bike a couple of weeks...no nut, just the tab washer laying in the sprocket cover.. the thread is fine and so is the sprocket... the thread is dirty as though its been missing a while.
ive only done around 40 miles on it so far, and its the 1st chance ive had to check it...glad I did..

they  are recent chain and sprockets sets, so im guessing they either fitted the old nut or the 9mm one and not tight enough???

anyway, guess il be trotting off to a dealers tomorrow for a new one. :rolleyes

linking carbs using the balance pipes
Posted by: solorider - 16-03-14, 06:35 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

there is an article on pats site about linking the carbs using the balance pipes on the intakes, I have done this mod, at first I fitted the pipes linking 1-4 and 2-3, now I have done the link all 4 together, at first I used the 5mm t pieces from Halfords but as they are small I ordered some proper 5mm fuel pipe ones off eBay, they are off a vw. with the Halfords ones I had the vibration at 3k where using the vw ones the vibration virtually disappeared. I know one thing at 6k revs the front wheel comes way up under power where it never did before, I don't know if fazer thous do power wheely much, mine has never just a small one, so the question is after ivanising do the fazer pick up its front wheel more or are they not prone to big power wheelies?
