  Interest rate idea
Posted by: fazersharp - 18-03-14, 11:26 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

So how to help savers who are getting next to no interest ?, you cant hike up the interest but what about if the chancellor says something like--- ok if the interest rate was 5% you would be getting £50 on your £1000, but you are only getting  1% now = £5 so would it work if he then gave a the difference back by way of lowering the tax for the year by £45. Would that work do you think.

  TPS advice please
Posted by: darrsi - 18-03-14, 07:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Noticed that the bike has felt a bit jittery the last 2 days, and as it reminded me of TPS issues I had last year I thought I'd check it out.

The first  check I did resulted in 0rpm so I attempted to adjust it but the rev counter needle didn't move.

So I then went through the motions again, unplugged it, and it went straight to 3000rpm, which is correct as that means it's either unplugged or faulty, then I plugged it back in and this time it went to 10,000rpm BUT it still wouldn't move at all when I went to adjust it again.
I moved the whole TPS unit as far each way that it would allow and the rev needle stayed put.

This was a used TPS that I replaced the original one with last time, so I don't know it's age or history, but the question is does this point to a faulty unit again?
I would have expected it to go to 3000rpm if it was knackered so I'm a bit confused by it, although I do know they can gradually break down rather than just stop working!

Any thoughts appreciated on the quick, 'cos I'll need to source another one ASAP if you reckon it's another dud as well?

I recognised the bikes behaviour straight away and as it's showing the wrong code I personally think it is dodgy but would like another opinion from you good people?  Wink

  Undecided about fazer FZ1
Posted by: red imp - 18-03-14, 07:09 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (10)

Hi All
I would like some advice please. I am concidering buying a Fazer FZ1 on the ten plate with 7200 miles on the clock.  I ride a street triple at the moment (09) but find it a pain on longer journeys and motorways due to the wind blast.  what are your thoughts on (1) the better of the two bikes and(2) how good is the Fazer?.

Regards

Ian

Diagnosing a noise..possible Red98 victory but he did sort my leads ;)
Posted by: noggythenog - 18-03-14, 06:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (26)

Well i've had fun & games trying to diagnose a strange pinging noise from my front wheel.

On the plus side i have learned how to get my front wheel off & a little bit more of my fazer is realised.

So i have this noise like a stone pinging underneath my front mudguard, usually when moving off but also when coming to a stand still, sometimes 1 ping, sometimes 2 or 3.....once im going i cant notice anything and i don't think it is speed relative...doesn't get faster...i can always hear it loudly & im quite sure i'd notice it whilst at speed & it would be pretty obvious.....so only at slow speed hmmmmmmm!

Whipped my wheel off....checked the speedo sensor dog...all looking good........took the wheel to the garage & they reckon the bearings in the wheel look good...the bike freewheels fine with no obvious brake binding & no indication either on the discs....the steering smoothely moves from lock to lock....basically the bike seems fine apart from this annoying noise.

I've put everything back on with plenty lithium grease & copper ease.....& the noise is still there.

So hard to replicate it without riding under power but tomorrow i'll try find a large & quiet hill so that i can roll down it unpowered & try get it to happen & rule out other stuff.

Got a feeling the fender might just be catching on the tyre sometimes...it is very close.....see pic.....& maybe it needs my weight on it to do so as it doesn't do it while pushing the bike.....no obvious marks on the tyre...or the fender though.

Anyway....still a good day learning some more  :faz  Stuff.....garden slabs came in handy.

Hi All,

2nd gear has gone on my R1 5pw (1st injection model) :'(

Can anyone confirm if the FZS 1000 (2000 5LV) gearbox is a straight swap for the R1 5PW (2002) 1st injection model??

I hope to replace the whole box :eek :eek

Thanks
Mark
