Soda is an abrasive used in sandblasters but its soft enough that it doesn't damage surfaces but cleans off ingrained dirt and staining , it's a bit like washing powder (or in the US of A it's called washing soda) but for use with high pressure cleaning systems.
( didn't know if Devilsyam was joking sorry 😐)

Devilsam, if you go on youtube you'll find video's of people blasting complete engines, something you couldn't do with other media as it would risk destroying the motor if it was to find its way inside a casing

Thanks Nash. I've not had a great deal of spare time recently but a little progress has been made. I've replaced the rear shock and started the rebuild on the front forks. Pics below.

Evening all,

Managed to get some time in the garage this weekend. All the fork parts have arrived including the new stanchions so hopefully I'll get them reassembled over Easter.

great to watch a full resto going on
mine might be getting the full strip and redesign treatment when i get my new house in the city (need it everyday here in the countryside)
will be watching with anticipation of where you go with yours
im thinking of going a metalic high sparkle blue with hydrodip layed over the top
if your wanting to stand out have a look at the hydrograpics options its amzing what you can have done now

I love what you've done with the cooling fins. I think I'm gonna do the same to mine once I've resprayed it.

Thanks for the spelling help  :lol

That however is the least of my problems. Tried to strip the wheels for powder coating and the brake disc bolts aren't for shifting. One has snapped already so looks like I'll be drilling them out unless a little heat will persuade them.

Great progress man!

As for colours then everyone will just suggest the same colour as their own bike (because everyone thinks their colour is the fastest... haha) I do love the origonal yamaha colour of deep purplish blue metallic cocktail, same as my foxeye but got for something completely different. I always think the fazers shape lends itself well to a strip of different colour down the middle. the tank has the raised centre section, the tail unit has the centre section and the front can easily be seperated between the lights or whatever. Go on give it a racing stripe then it'll be super fast. haha.

I had my wheels done gloss black and think it looks much nicer than the standard satin black too as they never looked clean and shiney to me.

Keep us updated!

Chris

Yeah Chris is right about all Fazer owners thinking their colour is the fastest, all except the Silver Owners they don't just think they know LOL  :finger

That's odd, I bought the blue one cos everyone I spoke to told me they were the fastest and the prettiest.

Mixed paraffin with ATF for exhaust on Mondeo and worked a treat. :)
