My last bike

May not be of interest to anyone these were my last two bikes before the wee Fazer, The Z1000SX was a great bike and have to say I do miss the power of this bad boy.  The Black one is a Honda CBF 1000 GT, nice comfy bike for touring and good bottom end torque, but to be honest pretty bloody boring compared to the SX . I had a FZ 6 S1 before the CBF and that is why when I was down sizing I knew the wee FZ6 S 2 I have now would still give me a buzz, but as said it is not a 1000cc bike.
Do you think maybe it is like  my dick is bigger than your dick thing I am going through ??
Don't get me wrong I am enjoying the Fazer but I am sure anyone who has come down from a 1000 cc bike to a 600cc will know what I mean. Sadly the SX had to go as the old pins are not so good, so hopefully the wee fazer will keep me riding for a few more years yet.

Trouble is, even on the tight twisties......There's always a straight bit somewhere.

I wouldn't let the fact that smaller bikes are (usually) more nimble than the big thous put you off of them. They can still be made to handle pretty well, and are still great fun to ride. I've had mostly big bikes, partly because at 6' 2'' I'm too cramped on anything else, but also cos I started on big bikes and was always reluctant to let go of the power and torqueiness they deliver. And never mind the people who say you can't use that power on the road, it's useful to have when you need to lose that Merc that's stuck up your ass on the motorway, and having great big doses of mid range is always a lot of fun!
If your riding is always likely to be a bit "provincial" then maybe a 600 is all you'll ever need, but if you're regularly going to do big distances, that big engine makes for a much more relaxed ride, and they don't notice so much when you load up the luggage.
 
I'd like a 600 too, but if I can only have one, I'll stick with the thou!

Nick trust me if I could still physically still muscle a thou around on the roads around here I would have kept the SX, but there comes a time in life when common sense has to prevail, I am sadly at that place now. If I thought I could through my leg over a ZZR 1400 and live with it I would have one of those in my garage now.

I've spent the last 6 years on 1000cc nakeds of various types and have now dropped down to a street triple form a speed triple.  I don't have the gut wrenching acceleration of the 1000's and I did notice that at first.  Now I've adjusted to getting my fun from ringing the bike's neck, different but still satisfying.  Ride to the benefits of the bike.

I want to go the other way. I would rather be on a torquey thou than the wee 600 (but insurance has somewhat forced my hand for now), as although I know it's fine, I feel that constantly revving the tits off the 600 isn't being mechanically sympathetic, would rather have more torque and not need to drop 2 gears to overtake..

I've been toying with the idea of buying a thou sometime next year if I ever manage to save up the money mostly for the benefits of long distance and being able to load it up - the power is certainly appealing as well...

I did a few checks before hand and to my surprise, I can insure a Gen 1 thou for exactly the same price as my 600, to the penny... obviously tax is a bit higher, but when you're paying £270~ a year on tax for a car, bike tax is just a fart in the wind...

interesting .......have a look at PUNKSTIGS video on "lofos go up fish hill"  cameras mounted on a 600 facing backwards with a great view of KOSMIC KARTMAN on his fine thou.both superb riders but whos having the most fun......i have both bikes and i have said this before........THE 600 IS THE BETTER BIKE.......

The main reason i could see me getting say a    thou is that they generally appear to be higher quality items.
With an original price of about 10k they werent made on the same budget as the 600's, plus they tend to be owned by the more Mature riders (read old farts ), joking aside, guys that tend to a - know how to look after a bike, b - have air conditioned, temp controlled  houses whilst there wifes sleep in the shed & c - Have got to the stage in life where they can afford to splash out on their beloved beasts instead of their wifes shopping sprees.
I would never have a Blue one though!!!
