Well there are alot of gen1 bikes owned by the forum members

Who has the oldest,, when did the gen 1 become what it is today( up to 2006)?

Was it 1998 ?

I think it came out in 2001

Mine was first registered on the 11th of May 2001. 108,000 miles and bits of it are still going strong.

I'd hate to think what anyone paid brand new in 01 for their fazer thou?
Isn't this why they didn't catch on that well back then. Yamaha priced them too high.
I got mine brand new in 05 and paid £5995

Well I'm nowhere near. I had a 2002 bike that I bought in 2004. Put maybe 30,000 miles on it and decided to buy a really clean 2004 plater in 2008 when I realised my old faithful was getting a bit scruffy and I didn't want a gen 2. Have since put another 24,000 onto the 8k that was on it. I'm looking after this one…

According to the logbook mine was first registered on 05-03-2001 and has less than 8k on the clock but I have to admit I am not the original owner but owner number two. I bought the bike ( Sidney, yes I decided he's a boy) a month ago and I am loving owning and riding a Gen 1 1000 after owning and still riding an old carb FZS 600 for 8 years. Do I win a cookie ?
