Anyway, I thought load was the resistance applied across a circuit, V=IR, power is equivalent to the energy spent overcoming the resistance - but it's years since I did anything in electronics and I was never the most avid student!

P=VI where p is the power in watts, V is the voltage and I is the current in amps
