Air box removal??
« on: 08 May 2013, 06:35:53 pm »
How do you remove the air box? Took the carbs out and removed the rubbers on the air box. I am removing the engine and want to know cause it is a mystery to me, it's just to long!

Once the engine is out the airbox should slide out fairly easily - did with mine. Was a bugger getting it to stay still and not fall out whilst trying to put the engine back in again :P

There is 1 hex head bolt (12mm socket i think) at the top of the airbox connecting to the frame, and 1 one each side also behind the black plastic side covers.
Ideally to get out in one piece without cursing and wrecking something, take it out after the engine & put it back in before the engine.
I forgot to put it back in before the engine and i had to dissemble the airbox as much as it would and fight with it to wedge it back in, best avoided. :thumbup

Pretty much yea, unless your willing to hack away a few bits which you dont think you need :lol
Although to be fair, when do you ever really have to change your airbox.

Looked up this topic because i was having a hard time removing te airbox myself. Here to let you guys know that it is possible by removing the bracket that holds the fuel pump etc. , removing the carbs, splitting the airbox in half by removing the screws, and also remove the inlet rubbers on the engine itself. This creates just enough room to wiggle out the airbox.
