« on: 30 March 2013, 03:26:53 PM »
My cdi/ecu unit needs replaceing when I checked out the net to buy one two different part numbers came up one is 5lv-82305-00 and the other is 5lv-82305-40 every one is advertising them both as suitable for all fzs1000 2001-2005 does any one know if this is true or are they persiphic to individual machines many thanks for any help.

I think they're different.  Off the top of my head, I seem to recall one type has a single electrical connector, while the other has two.

Unfortunately, none of the fiches I looked at made it any clearer but I suggest you check the number of connectors plugging into yours and at least ensure that the replacement has the same. :)

I believe the unit with 2 connectors fits the r1 and the unit with 1 connector fits the fzs1000 although they have different model numbers I have been told they will be ok for all fzs1000 years 2001-2005 would just like to be sure

You're probably right about the R1 / FZS1000 ECUs.  My bad ... I've got a '99 R1 in the garage which is perhaps why I got them confused. :)

Daft as it may sound, why does your ECU require replacement? They aren't items that normally fail.
