tick over???
« on: 04 February 2013, 11:36:39 am »
Hi Guys and girls, have noticed my foxeye has begun to tick over fast for about twenty seconds after pulling up to lights etc, it runs at about 1500 rpm and then without me doing anything settles back to around 1000 rpm after about twenty seconds!!!! strange any ideas from the gurus???

Either Sticky throttle cable, sticky throttle slide in the carb ( although unlikely unless its an uneven fast idle) or intake air leak (through the rubbers etc)

An air leak can cause erratic tick over, and would also start spluttering when trying to overtake, or just accelerating.
Sounds like something sticking to me. Is the choke completely in the off position?

Another vote for the throttle cables here.
There are two, one to pull the butterflies open and the other to close them. If there's slack the spring on the butterflies has to push the return cable back up the sleeve and that takes time... especially if the cables haven't been lubricated recently.

yeah choke is ok, does splutter on acceleration but only when cold, rides well when warmed up no other problems just tick over and always returns to normal after said delay
