My understanding (from a drunken conversation with T-Cat years ago) was that Yam were getting their corporate grundies in a twist over the use of Fazer and the tuning fork logo and decided to send a couple of arsey emails.
The Unofficial was added to appease them whilst also allowing us to say Foc-U to those that were taking umbrage.
Also means we can have a bit of fun with t-shirts, stickers etc whilst not being overtly offensive as it can just as easily be pronounced as the F.O.C.U.
It was a while ago mind you, so I may have confused what he actually said with what I thought he said, if so I'm blaming his accent.
As for changing it, must confess I'm not a fan of that thinking.
We're still not affiliated with Yamaha Europe, we don't get a mention on their website (I'll speak to Farjo and see about getting an email together about that) and, unlike the HD Owner's group, we don't get any deals, discounts or affiliation benefits.
If there were an overwhelming clamour for us to stop being Foc-U then it would be something we'd have to discuss further, but at the minute we're just shy of 2000 members of which 20 or so have posted about it, excluding Farjo and myself.
I reckon we'd need a far greater turn out than ≈1% to even think about starting serious discussions, sorry.
Least of all, but (selfishly) important to me, it would involve myself and Farjo having to change domain registration and associated gubbins, alter the logo, change the skin settings in the Forum....
Relatively simple to do, but time consuming never the less.
I apologise if this seems somewhat close minded of me, but once a Foccer, always a Foccer.
