Suspension Settings
« on: 15 October 2011, 08:12:37 pm »
I fancy fiddling with my suspension to try and get it better suited to me. I have no particular gripes about the current setup but am aware that out of the box it'll be setup to cover the middle ground of riders/rider style etc.

So, are there any suspension gurus in here that talk of pre-load, compression and rebound with an aged wisdom that will be able to help me conquer the dark art?

I'm about 80kgs, use the bike for ride out's only so generally like it a little responsive but at the same time I don't want to be crashing over every bump in the road so not much to work on I know but any suggestions are welcome.

It's an '07 FZ1-S by the way  :)

There is a place called 'Reactive Suspension' north of York who is good. A lad at my 'ivanising' day had his done.

Rode down, bloke stripped his forks, renewed bushes where needed, seals, oil and new internals and springs for rider weight. Back together and set up for sag, rebound etc. Rode home again.

You're in South Wales ain't you Bracechenko? There's a bloke who used to be on here called Rusty Nutz. He's in Church Village and is well versed in suspender twidling. He also rated the K-Tech boys very highly as they done him a great deal on a re-vale job this very day.

Maybe admin will have an e-mail addy for him??

depends on how much you both weigh in at and how you like your bike to handle.

Tagg racing sold a mate of mine a 350LC which was a pile of shite fit for the skip. Save your pennies and get a mate to help set your sag.

If you haven't got any mates see if there's a forum member local to you that will help.

What do you weigh? You might find that you can't get the sag you want anyways.

pick a number, any number.......................... Ohlins says rear 25-35mm, front 30-40mm ................. Sag, hmm it's ok as a starting point but you may not like how it feels.

Best thin you can do is ride it, assess what it's doing, adjust, ride, assess, adjust etc

the go-star stuff is pretty good.

Don't forget to wear your normal riding gear when doing the Rider sag. This can add quite a few kilos. Weight yourself before then after you put your riding gear on. You'll be suprised.

I'm 5'7" and for riding most days I wear
Justisimo flip up
Textile jacket with linner
Textile over trousers
Leather and Gortex boots
Gloves

If I remember correctly this was just short off 9 kilos. This also included the other crap that you stuff in your pockets when you go rolling. House keys, wallet, phone etc.

Light summer gear or leather gear will also knock off or add a few kilos.

Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

care full there part of laguna maidstone and although there ok if things go right they will wipe there hands of you when they dont take your money and run

BEWARE...BE VERY AWARE, they done me for £1300 and a gsxr 1000k6, supposed to do  a mastercylinder replacement as a V.O.S.A safety recall (shoulda been free) and i never saw my bike ever again until my neighbour eventually brought it from the salvage company. it was damaged them salvaged by them,  then salvage co sold it to my Neighbour,

Id avoid all the bike shops under the LAGUNA MAIDSTONE BANNER, as there all the same there well over priced too at least 30%

just do your reasearch on this group of bike shops the amount of complaints about them on the net is crazy there are 1000s if you look hard enough to find them

AS it's approaching 2 years ago I guess he's sorted by now :)

Why did you never see your bike again?
Must admit I've never heard anyone before with serious issues of Laguna.

Dan, think he lives in Laguna country (Maidstone) nowdays.

I've only ever bought gear from them, usually in a sale!
